There's always a problem to solve

I'm never surprised why many people dislike mathematics. At some point, it can be very complicated and confusing. I encountered some groups of scholars recently and watching them discuss was delightful. We sat at the front of a bar taking some bottles of beer. Just right before us, three guys and a lady entered an empty room and when they were coming out, they were five (three guys, two ladies)

How's that possible, I asked myself? The three scholars were also watching. The first scholar (a biologist said)

"If four people entered and five came out, maybe they reproduced"

That's reasonable, thinking about what reproduction means. I wasn't confused.

The second scholar (a physicist said)

"If four people entered and five came out, then the measurement isn't accurate"

I wasn't confused either because the numbers didn't match

When it was the turn of the third scholar (mathematician, he said)

"Four people entered and five came out. Then if one person entered, the house will be empty"

You see the confusion.

I began to crack my brain to understand his calculations. It sounds abstract though theoretically sound. But the truth is he really confused my brain. That's math for you. Always looking for what is not lost.

Can you imagine this type of question

a = a + b - 2a, find a

Is "a" missing in the equation? See "a" Nah.

They just like touching your brain. Now to find the "a" that is not missing, you begin to collect like terms 😅 "a" and "-2a", then you get "-a". Ahh, math is crazy, I swear

a = a - 2a + b........ Collecting the like terms

So you can now have

a = -a + b or

a = b - a

They are the same.

Since you are told to find a, they won't allow you to go further than that. If you do, " a" will be lost 😂. You won't see "a" again

Let me go further and lost "a". I won't go outside the law of mathematics

If a =-a + b then we have to divide both sides by " -a"

a/-a = -a + b/-a....... All a will cancel each other with the minus sign where applicable and we would be left with

-1 = b

Therefore b = -1 🤣🤣

From here, you can't go further and "a" has disappeared. Won't this alone scare people away? They like giving people problems to solve when most are still struggling to solve their family and personal problems

There's even a topic in mathematics called "word problem", where the world on its own is full of problems. 😅. You will be given a problem. They would want you to understand the problem, translate it by devising a plan, and then solve and interpret it

I think I see why most ladies run from mathematics. It's because they don't like problems so they run from them

You would know the intention of mathematicians from the first 10 numbers invented

They confused people with 1

When you read from numbers 1 to 9, the next is ten, right?

But when it gets to 19, the next is

twenty, then
thirty
Forty
Fifty
Sixty
Seventy
Eighty
Ninety
Hundred

The question is, why is ten not onety so everything can be in order before it gets to one hundred?

After counting from 1 to 9, then we should have onety and not ten

Onety-one and not eleven
Onety-two and not twelve
Onety-three and not thirteen
Onety-four and not fourteen
Onety-five and not fifteen
Onety-six and not sixteen
Onetyseven and not seventeen
Onety-eight and not eighteen
Onety-nine and not nineteen

Then Twenty, twenty-one, twenty-two.......
Thirty, thirty-one, thirty-two.........
Forty, forty-one, forty-two........ And so on

It would have been in order.

10 carries 1 = onety
20 carries 2 = twenty
30 carry 3 = thirty
40 carries 4 = Forty

It goes till it reaches one hundred. That isn't confusing at all.

That little boy looks confused.

Did you notice that when kids learn how to write numbers, they find it difficult to master between numbers eleven and nineteen? Once they get to 20, they can continue without supervision. Also, have you noticed the difficulty they encounter in pronouncing fifteen and sixteen? Some would say fixteen. They are confused ni jare, no be their fault. They just merge the two and jump to seventeen
. 🤣

Some terms in math are also scary. You hear Almighty formula, trigonometry, Pythagoras, binomial's, polynomial, calculus, sinusoid, asymptote, algebra, and so on. Some math questions still remain unsolved for years
😅

Mathematicians initiated confusion and difficulty from the genesis of the course. But wait! Are you sure I'm not confusing some people again
? 🤔

But you don't have to be. I'm only trying to explain why math is confusing and if I must succeed, I need to confuse to convince
😅

Hail Mathematicians

They would create problems that don't exist and still find a way to solve them no matter how long. But most times, the person that creates the problem will die without solving them and leave the puzzle for others. When it comes to maths, problems can never finish
