Heads in hands. I'm in the category of people that find legal tussles that go on in a law court to be fairly boring, but the one I heard of today was quite comical.

Who would have known that a case involving a Goat would be this comical? Oh, my world!

Here is the thing; I heard of a very interesting incident in the early hours of this day.

I went to visit a close friend today as it is her dad's remembrance day to help out with the cooking or any other stuff to be done. Alas! The news came in and it was so comical that I couldn't stop myself from laughing so hard at the detail given. There is a nurse around who owns a goat. The nurse's home wasn't far from my friend's place and she had come over to help out with the cooking.

If you know about animal husbandry and how it is done by some people in my part of the world, you will get a clear picture of what it's like to casually come across animals running around the streets like a kid on sugar.

This is why it's common to hear stories of goats strolling into people's compounds/farms to eat whatever edible they can lay their eyes on. Sometimes, the goat commits this crime and goes scot-free. Other times, they get to face the consequence of their action. This goat in question was said to be specific in its meal. According to the nurse, the goat doesn't eat grass or other things goats are meant to eat. She trained it to eat some food like noodles, rice, and bread among others.

You can only imagine what would be the case when a goat like this acts out of character. The same goat that only eats fancy food under the watchful eyes of the owner decided to be mischievous when it got a chance to sneak into a neighboring compound.

According to the people around who also came over to help with the cooking, the goat was said to have gone into a neighboring compound and had a feast with chicken feed which was in the compound.

Imagine that. What a gutsy heist by a domestic goat. Haha.

Luckily for the owner of the chicken feed and unluckily for the goat in question, the goat was caught in action. It was apprehended before it could escape from the compound and tied to a tree.

Crimes and punishment are inseparable. They go hand in hand, don't they?

Yeah, this is just a goat and I'm not too sure about the legal proceedings in the animal kingdom, but the woman that suffered damages due to the action of the goat was hell-bent on punishing the owner of the goat for the actions of the goat.

The nurse couldn't find her goat so she asked around until someone told her where the goat was. On arrival, the owner of the feed told the nurse that the goat will not be freed since it ate her chicken feed. The nurse was gobsmacked and tried telling the woman that the goat doesn't go around eating people's things which people around agreed to. But the woman never agreed even when the nurse later apologized. The nurse left the woman's place but she was called on later that the town's chief wants to see her so she headed to his place.

On arrival, the town's chief asked her to pay $40 and bring two local drinks which are summed up to $10 before the goat can be released. The nurse couldn't believe what she just heard from the town's chief. As far as she could tell, $50 is enough to buy a new goat altogether. Asking her to pay $50 as a fine was a ludicrous decision on the part of the town's chief.

All the stakeholders connected to this comical event were actively making a case for themselves. It's a pity I didn't stay to hear the rest of the story, but it's hard to put words on how this whole case will end. It will be quite beyond the stretch of my imagination. Haha.

This is undoubtedly the most comical moment I've heard of this year.

What is the most comical event you witnessed or heard of this year? Care to share the details? Feel free to drop your comments in. I have brought in something to your table @olawalium, come and feed on this too. I beat you to a comical event this year.
