Putroe Phang Park: A Tale of Love, History, and Natural Beauty in Aceh

Putroe Phang Park is a park that has an interesting history. The park is located in Aceh Darussalam and was established by Sultan Iskandar Muda in the past. The park was built especially for the empress, Putroe Phang, who came from the Kingdom of Pahang, Malaysia. Formerly, this park was known as Taman Ghairah. Sultan Iskandar Muda loved Putroe Phang very much, so he built this park so that the empress would not be lonely when the Sultan was running the government. Reportedly, the construction of this park was carried out at the request of Putroe Phang herself who was brought to Aceh by Sultan Iskandar Muda after the Pahang kingdom was conquered. With its rich history, Putroe Phang Park has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in Aceh.

One of the beautiful sights in this park is Pintoe Khop, which is located in the middle of the river. Pintoe Khop is one of the historical heritage sites in Aceh dating back to the Sultan Iskandar Muda Kingdom in the 16th century. This site was built by Sultan Iskandar Muda and used as a connecting door between the Palace and Taman Sari Gunongan or Taman Gairah located in the backyard of the palace. Pintoe Khop became a resting place for Putri Pahang after she was tired of playing in the water at Gunongan, and it was there that the dayang-dayang washed the empress's hair. There is also a pond for the empress to wash her hair and bathe in flowers, so Pintoe Khop has a very important historical value.

And we can also see the stunning beauty of nature in Putroe Phang Park. The combination of rivers, trees, bridges and historical buildings is very eye-catching.

In addition, Putroe Phang Park also provides a playground for children that will make a family vacation more exciting while learning history. Spending time here is very comfortable because the place is quiet and peaceful. Another interesting thing is that there is no entrance fee at all to enjoy the beauty of Putroe Phang Park. Therefore, it is not surprising that Putroe Phang Park has become one of the favorite tourist attractions for tourists who want to enjoy the beauty of Aceh's history and nature.

We can read a brief history of the park on the notice board at the front near the gate. Here are some photos I took from the gate. The park is very well managed. The environment is clean because every day there are always cleaners in charge of cleaning and maintaining the park area.

So, what do you think of Putroe Phang Park? Have I piqued your interest to visit this beautiful park and witness the historical and natural beauty that it has to offer?
