Introduction
I want to start with this beautiful image of the Sardinian coast, I believe that this heavenly view can be admired only in this precise point of the world ... Certainly each of us will have had many experiences in life, and will have seen fantastic landscapes, but I assure you that the Sardinian coast leaves something inside, like any special place: a vivid emotion of a unique experience.
Today we visit a very special place, a very important island of Sardinia, which is located a few miles off the coast of the main island: The island of Spargi.
As you can see from the pictures the islet is of modest size and is located northeast of the coast of Sardinia, this islet is part of an archipelago called *Maddalena archipelago" which also comprises Caprera, Santo Stefano, Budelli, Santa Maria, Razzoli.
(Some of these islands we will see in later posts).
It is possible to reach the various islands of the archipelago using different ferry services that leave from various points on the island, I left from Palau, a city that has a really big port, which offers many private ferry services that take you in a whole day to visit some of the islands of the archipelago.
The ferry services are many and can be booked from various websites or directly from the port, with many boats, the one we chose was a ferry (like the one you see in the picture) that brings a group of about 60 people together.
All that's left is for us to set off and enjoy this marvelous journey on the open sea! π
Editor's note: All of the images you'll see in this post were made by me, exclusively for the #HaveYouBeenHere community, and for the amazing project of @pinmapple.
The journey to the island
Let's leave behind the coast of Palau and start sailing in this beautiful sea, the day is wonderful, the clarity of the sky is second only to the crystal clear water.
In the sea there are many boats, rubber dinghies and yachts of people who are very well, in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Around us we begin to outline the profiles of the rocks, which over the centuries sailors and local people have called by various names.
There are dogs that have been guarding the coasts and protecting the paradisiacal beaches for thousands of years, other animals and even witches that are represented by the wind and the water that furrows the hardest rocks to remind man of the symbols of his history.
Water is something fantastic, and on the journey to Spargi you can feel it through all your senses: the crystal clear view and the unmistakable colors that outline a seabed without mysteries, the scent of saltiness that inebriates you and completely surrounds you.
After about an hour of travel we approach our coveted destination, and prepare to disembark.
Visiting the island
The island of Spargi is the third largest of the archipelago of La Maddalena, with an area of 4.20 square kilometers, the coastline stretches for about 11 kilometers, some beaches are accessible and others are not.
The highest point takes the name of "Punta Guardia dei Preposti" and has a height above sea level of 153m.
Here the water and the beaches are wonderful, the warm colors of the sands and rocks blend perfectly with the infinite shades of water.
The sea in the distance takes on an unmistakable blue color, while if you look at it closely, the water is of a clarity never seen before.
In questa foto, si vede proprio il gradiente cromatico dell'acqua, e la limpidezza che lascia trasparire ogni dettaglio del fondale.
The beaches that are located along the coast of the island are surrounded and furrowed by rocks also quite high on which you can climb to better see the beautiful landscape.
The beaches here are sandy and there is no need to wear shoes in the water, the sand is golden and every square inch of this island is a natural paradise.
It is possible to visit the island, the ferry gave us the opportunity to stay two hours, to visit the island and to enjoy the beautiful beaches.
The basic rule to follow is not to interfere in any way with nature, not slo not pollute, but it is also forbidden to tear plants or take away sand, shells or stones.
Before getting back on the ferries it is necessary to wash with running water so as not to take away even a grain of sand, only in this way it is possible to preserve nature.
In this breathtaking landscape the rocks play their role and are absolutely fantastic, as you can see from the photos they have various geometric shapes and various surface finishes.
The rocks are shaped over the centuries by wind, water and atmospheric agents.
On the beach you can find caves where you can stop.
In some points, where the seabed is deeper, the water becomes emerald green, also a typical color of Sardinia.
The seabed is full of fish of many species that can be seen diving, a spectacle without equal.
It would have been nice to see this beautiful landscape alone, in fact in the summer months these nature reserves are a bit crowded with tourists, the images I took in September when the season is over and I tried not to capture people.
The island has some buildings inside, there are finds from the Roman era and fortifications dating back to the Second World War, some still visible today.
There are also some more modern buildings and also wooden walkways for traveling along the main streets.
Here you can see a glimpse of the highest point of the island "Punta Guardia dei Preposti", a natural lookout tower that can be reached with a walk of about 10 minutes.
Here a view from the higest point of the island, you can see all the coast and the little portt to access the island.
Along the coast, the beaches are different and you can find your own corner even in the busiest seasons.
Conclusion
I think this island is the most beautiful thing I have seen in my holiday on Sardinia, even if it is difficult to say, but the landscape contains everything I want: crystal clear water, vegetation and fauna.
I want to conclude with this last image, which is my favorite of all those taken on the island of Spargi.
Here we see the soul of the island in its entirety, the fantastic colors that characterize it and the heavenly atmosphere that you breathe when you are here.
And you? Have you ever been in Spargi? Have you ever see a so beautiful place?
