On the heights of Moltabán (ENG/ESP)

In the town of Moltabán, Carabobo state - Venezuela, at its heights there is a mountain, which makes presence as its great watchman, which has the name El Peñón, because part of this mountain is a steep cliff, where there is a cross at the top, and to that point there is a height of 1307 meters, and can be accessed by the people, through roads made, and has a distance of more than 5 km to reach the top.

Therefore a friend invited me to climb this mountain, with the idea of camping for a few days and enjoy the benefits of nature, so we went several people from the city of Valencia to the village Moltabán, located in the same state Carabobo - Venezuela. From Valencia to Montalbán, it can take 1 hour by car, and a bus can be a bit longer.

Already at the foot of the mountain you can see roads that can even pass cars, but our option was to climb the mountain walking, so it is highly recommended to bring plenty of water. On the way up you will see a lot of forest and the path can be a bit steep at some point, but nothing that would take any kind of risk. So it would take us about 2 hours to get to the top, actually it is not that difficult to climb this mountain, but once at the top you can see a great view of the other mountains and the village of Moltabán.

En el pueblo de Moltabán, estado Carabobo - Venezuela, a sus alturas se encuentra una montaña, que hace presencia como su gran vigilante, la cual tiene como nombre El Peñón, debido a que parte de esta montaña se encuentra un risco empinado, donde hay una cruz en lo alto, y hasta ese punto hay una altura de 1307 metros, y se puede acceder por el pueblo, por medio de caminos hechos, y tiene una distancia hasta más de 5 km para llegar a la cima.

Por lo cual un amigo me invito a subir esta montaña, con la idea de acampar alginos días y disfrutar de las bondades de la naturaleza, de esta forma fuimos varias personas desde la ciudad de Valencia hasta el pueblo Moltabán, ubicados en el mismo estado Carabobo - Venezuela. Desde Valencia hasta Montalbán, puede durar 1 hora de recorrido en carro, y un bus puede ser un poco más.

Ya a pie de la montaña se puede apreciar caminos que incluso pueden pasar carros, pero nuestra opcion fue subir la.montaña caminando, por lo que es nuy recomendable llevar mucha agua. Durante el trayecto a nuestro lado se ve mucho bosque y el camino en cierto punto puede ser un poco empinado, pero nada que tomaría algún tipo de riesgo. Por lo que nos tomaría como 2 horas para llegar hasta la cima, en realidad no es tan difícil subir esta montaña, pero una vez arriba se puede ver una vista grandiosa de las demás montañas y el pueblo de Moltabán.

Once at the top, there is plenty of space for camping, almost flat terrain with a lawn, for our comfort, as well as a small river 15 minutes away, with very cold water, but very refreshing and drinkable, for the consumption of anyone who walks in these places.

During the day the climate can be very fresh, and in spite of the sun, temperatures between 18 to 20 degrees are registered, but at night the temperature tends to drop more, reaching up to 10 degrees or less, but in itself it is a very bearable climate for everyone, without reaching extremes.

Una vez en la cima, hay mucho espacio para acampar, casi con un terreno plano y con un césped, para mayor comodidad de nosotros, como también a su cercanía a 15 minutos, se encuentra un pequeño río, con aguas muy frías, pero muy resfrecante y potable, para el consumo de todo aquel que ande por estos lugares.

Durante el día el clima puede ser muy fresco, y a pesar del Sol, se registran temperaturas entre 18 a 20 grados, pero en la noche si suele bajar más la temperatura, llegando hasta 10 grados o menos, pero de por sí es un clima muy soportable para todos, sin llegar a extremos.

From the top of the mountain you can admire breathtaking views, as well as appreciate the enermo chain of mountains, which connect many villages of Carabobo state, and can be walked through all the trails, although for us our only goal is to stay in El Peñon, and spend the days sharing and taking some pictures.

Although in this place at the top, you can't see much fauna and flora, if you go into the nearby forests where the river passes, you can see some wild animals and even some edible fruits such as blackberry, cambur and strawberry. All exposed by nature so that we can all consume these organic foods.

Desde arriba en la montaña se puede admirar impresionantes vistas, como también apreciar la enermo cadena de montañas, que conectan muchos pieblos del estado Carabobo, y puede ser recorridos por todos los senderos caminando, aunque para nosotros nuestro único objetivo es permancer en El Peñon, y pasar los días compartiendo y tomando algunas fotografías.

Aunque en este lugar de la cima, no se logra ver mucha presencia de fauna y flora, si nos adentramos en los bosques cercanos donde pasa el río, se puede ver algunos animales silvestres e incluso algunos frutos comestibles como la mora, cambur y fresa. Todo expuesto por la naturaleza para que todos podamos consumir esos alimentos orgánicos.

On the other hand, I tell an anecdote that happened to all of us, and it certainly makes it an unforgettable, unique experience to visit this beautiful and magnificent place. And it is the fact that at nightfall on our first day in the mountain, we were all together talking and telling some hundreds and jokes, as the night went by and the cold became much more accentuated, but it was at a specific moment during the early morning, when we all managed to see a great flash of light in the sky, as if it was the action of the flash of a huge camera. This event, all of us who went that day thought that it was a UFO, although we are not sure about it, it is the most logical thing that we can explain.

What happened and the fact of being able to get to know this place, that from the top we could all be closer to the clouds, have that contact with nature and witness a unique experience in my life, makes it a very recommendable location for those who like to climb mountains and camp.

Por otra parte cuento una anécdota que nos sucedió a todos, y sin duda hace que sea una expriencia inolvidable, único al visitar éste lugar hermoso y magnífico. Y es el hecho que al caer la noche en nuestro primer día de estancia en la montaña, estabamos todos reunidos conversando y relatando algunos cientos y chistes, por lo que pasaba la noche y el frío se acentuaba mucho más, pero fue en un momento específico durante la madrugada, cuando todos logramos ver un gran destello de luz en el cielo, como si fuese el accionar del flash de una cámara enorme. Dicho acontecimiento, todos los que fuimos ese día pensamos que fue algun OVNI, aunque no se tenga la certeza de eso, es lo más lógico que podemos explicar.

Lo ocurrido y más el hecho de poder conocer este sitio, que desde lo alto todos pudimos estar más cerca de las nubes, tener ese contacto con la naturaleza y presenciar una experiencia única en mi vidq, hace que sea una locación muy recomendable para quienes les gustan subir montañas y acampar.
