Walking Around Devils Tower, part 3 - Wondrous Wyoming

Last time, I shared more pictures from our walk around Devils Tower in NE Wyoming. This is my final installment.

This picture shows the result after some of the columns fell... (Can't find now how long ago it was, but it must have been a great show!)

Some muse how this looks like someone simply cut it away with modern equipment, so perfect it is.

I imagine this overhang has sheltered many from a sudden rainstorm.

One of the more unusual prayer offerings I saw was this beautiful little purse, with beads dangling below it.

We kept walking, grateful that we were going downhill now... it seemed longer now, somehow.

The face of the monument continued to change as we encircled it, but the views weren't as exciting now.

We found this pair of deer... mother and fawn. She seemed slightly concerned, but not enough to do more than stand up and check on her offspring.

As we came around the back side (NE, I guess) of Devils Tower, the energies changed a bit. It felt more ominous and dominating... few prayer trees are seen here and it didn't feel right to keep taking pictures.

As we drove away, I stopped at the Belle Fourche River again to take a few more pictures looking back...

And muse at the red sedimentary rocks nearby - the ones the river had to cut through to help create Devils Tower in the first place.

And thus ends my report on Devils Tower.
