Hike to Vazov Eco Trail and Skaklya Waterfall

Hi there Hive Family,

This weekend we decided to take a hike to a famous eco trail and waterfall in Northern Bulgaria near the city of Svoge.

We left the car in the region and took a walk to the mountainous place.

The waterfall is visible even from a big distance. It is known to be the highest intermittently flowing waterfall on the Balkans. Now as spring is around the corner, it would be the perfect time to visit it.

We passed by a beautiful stream while heading for the eco trail.

The motivation was very high as the pace was fast. I could hardly take a picture and not have to run to catch up.

We met a lot of people on our way. It was a really warm and pleasant day for excursions.

Villa Skaklya and the signs for the eco trail. One could take a couple of days rest in the nature´s skirts in one of the nearby villas and really relax to the fullest. Well at least during the week days 😁

Our first rest took place near this strong flowing stream. This was where some of us put on less clothing. One of us even decided to go barefoot to the top and back. I did that last year when we went to Vitosha mountain and I loved it. This time however, I didn´t feel like doing it but I will definitely plan that in the future. With it, I think I will just take my bathing shorts and do some Wim Hof cold water diving. One minute stay in the cold stream is more than enough to activate the hormonal cells and speed up the metabolism. It is like an immediate burst of endorphines and energy. Totally worth it, but not recommended for first time doers. Let me know in the comments if you have questions in regards to the topic.

We reached higher altitudes and the views opened.

We are getting closer and closer to the waterfall.

Finally, we reached the central part of Skaklya Waterfall. Its name I guess comes from the Bulgarian word for jumping. So the jumping waters and come to think of it. It is really jumping.

Hey look at that guy over there. He will test the cold waters. Have fun and be careful with the slippery rocks out there.

I couldn't get very close as even the sprinkles made me very wet. And it is really slippery.

We continued by crossing the waterfall and heading higher to see its peak part. Some of us barefoot 😉

We had an old stairway giving us a hand. Nevertheless, it was a steep ascend.

The views, however, were one of a kind. It is a mountainous place after all.

Perfect weather and beautiful scenery. Amazing time with amazing friends.
