Goin up to Cristo is a must-do when visiting Rio de Janeiro. Incredible view and amazing experience. So, I'm going to share my experience and hope you like it, Buckle up and let's ride.

Going up to Christ the Redeemer was an incredible experience. The walk is long. You arrive by car to a part and continue walking to the top.
But the walk is not in vain! Even though it's tiring, being in good shape helps, you'll make several stops to enjoy the view.
At every step you have a better and more incredible view of Rio de Janeiro. It is not for nothing that it is considered the Marvelous City, because the natural beauty it has is indescribable.
A big city, surrounded by greenery, rivers, beaches and natural beauty that sometimes makes you forget that you are in a big city.
After our tour of Jardim Botânico, which you can check in my post above, let's go now to the top of Crito Redeemer.
The visit to the Christ is a very touristy tour, several friends I have tell me that they have never done it. I think that when you've lived in the city since you were little, visiting some places always end up being postponed, because it's right there and you can visit anytime.
But after my visit to Christ, I always comment with my friends that they should do this tourist tour that is really worth it.
It is on top of a mountain, and after parking the car, you go up and up and up... It is on top of a mountain at 700 meters of altitude called Morro do Corcovado.
At the end, you have the help of some elevators and escalators, but we prefer to take the stairs to avoid queues and agglomerations.
You will be able to make a few stops to take pictures, stop by souvenir shops and be able to sit on some benches and wait for monkeys to pass by to ask for food.
It's always good to wait with the monkeys, as beautiful as they are, they are very smart and at any moment they can grab their food and jump back into the trees.
They are generally not aggressive, but as this is a wild animal, I wouldn't risk getting into a dispute with them.
The view is incredible, as the place is surrounded by the Tijuca National Park.
The statue is 30 meters high, and while it is possible to enter and climb it, it is not open to visitors.
A famous scene that I remember was a Brazilian artist, Renato Aragão, who during a report he climbed on Cristo Redentor, went to his hand to kiss Christ's hand. I remember that they were impressive scenes due to the height.
From up there, you will have a wonderful view of much of the city of Rio de Janeiro, there are 360 degrees of impressive views that I don't know if I managed to portray well in the photos. Even with some Image Edits in the photos, whenever I review I remember that live is much better. Perhaps because of the pure air, wind and dimension of the height and panoramic view in full.
You will be able to see Guanabara Bay, Sugar Loaf Mountain, Copacabana Beach, Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, the Atlantic Ocean and much more.
I'm told it's always full of people, so be prepared to wait your turn to take iconic photos, like standing with open arms at Christ's feet or getting a good angle at his feet. There are several people wanting to take the same photo as you.
Nothing patience can't solve, in the meantime, enjoy the views without your cell phone or camera in hand. I always comment that people are so concerned with recording moments that they end up forgetting to experience them.
In addition to souvenir shops, you will also have access to coffee shops to recharge your battery.

In 1824, the first expedition to Corcovado was carried out, organized by D. Pedro I, with the objective of becoming an observation point for the defense of Rio de Janeiro.
Considered the first railroad in Brazil, the Railroad to Morro do Corcovado was conceived by D. Pedro II and is used today for tourist purposes.
In 1888, the French priest Pierre-Marie Boss came up with the idea of building a statue on Corcovado, which initially should have been of Princess Isabel, in honor of her act of abolishing slavery. The Princess thought it best to build a statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, who according to her was the “true redeemer of men”.
1929 there was a change in the project and the inclusion of the heart of Christ the Redeemer. The heart measures 1.30 m and is the only part of the Christ that projects inwards.
The hands and head of Christ were made in Paris and came to Brazil in numbered pieces, 50 for the head and 8 for the hands.
Coated with soapstone, abundant in Brazil and resistant to erosion. The pieces were cut into triangles, hand-glued onto a cloth and then applied to the statue.
Its inauguration was on October 12, 1931.
In 2007 it was elected one of the 7 wonders of the modern world.
It is 38 m high, 30 m from the monument and 8 m from the pedestal.
It can withstand winds of 250 km/h, equivalent to the winds of Hurricane Katrina.
It weighs 1,145 tons.

Mas a caminhada não é em vão! Mesmo sendo cansativo, estar em boa forma ajuda, você irá fazer várias paradas para apreciar a vista.
A cada passo você tem uma vista melhor e mais incrível do Rio de Janeiro. Não é a toa que ela é considerada a Cidade Maravilhosa, pois a beleza natural que ela possui é indescritível.
Uma cidade grande, cercada de verde, rios, praias e belezas naturais que as vezes faz você esquecer que está em uma cidade grande.
Após nosso passeio pelo Jardim Botânico, que você pode conferir no meu post anterior, vamos agora até o topo do Cristo Redentor.
A visita até o Cristo é um passeio bem turístico, diversos amigos que tenho me falam que nunca fizeram. Eu acho que quando você mora desde pequeno na cidade, a visita para alguns lugares acabam sendo sempre adiadas, pois está logo alí e você pode visitar a qualquer hora.
Mas após minha visita ao Cristo, eu sempre comento com meus amigos que eles devem sim fazer esse passeio turístico que vale muito a pena.
Ele fica no alto de uma montanha, e após estacionar o carro, você segue subindo e subindo e subindo... Ele fica no topo de uma montanha a 700 metros de altitude chamada de Morro do Corcovado.
Ao final, você conta com auxílio de alguns elevadores e escadas rolantes, mas preferimos ir de escada para evitar filas e aglomerações.

Geralmente não são agressivos, mas como se trata de um animal silvestre, eu não iria arriscar em entrar em uma disputa com ele.
A vista é incrível, pois o local fica rodeado pelo parque nacional da Tijuca.

Uma cena famosa que eu me lembro foi um Artista brasileiro, Renato Aragão, que durante uma reportagem ele subiu no Cristo Redentor, foi até a mão dele para dar um beijo na mão do Cristo. Lembro que foram cenas impressionantes devido a altura.
Lá de cima, você terá uma vista maravilhosa de boa parte da cidade do Rio de Janeiro, são 360º graus de vistas impressionantes que não sei se consegui retratar bem nas fotos. Mesmo com algumas Edições de imagem nas fotos, sempre que revejo lembro que ao vivo é muito melhor. Talvez pelo ar puro, vento e dimensão da altura e vista panorâmica por completo.
Você irá conseguir ver a Baía de Guanabara, o Pão de Açúcar, a praia de Copacabana, a Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, o Oceano Atlântico e muito mais.
Me falaram que sempre está cheio de pessoas, portanto se prepare para aguardar sua vez de tirar fotos icônicas, como estar de braços abertos aos pes do Cristo ou obter um bom ângulo aos pés dele. São diversas pessoas querendo tirar mesma foto que você.
Nada que paciência não resolva, enquanto isso, aproveite para apreciar as vistas sem o celular ou camera na mão. Sempre comento que as pessoas se preocupam tanto em registrar momentos, que acabam esquecendo de vivencia-los.
Além das lojas de suveniers, você também terá acesso a lojas de café para recarregar sua bateria.

Revestido de pedra-sabão, abundante no Brasil e resistente à erosão. As peças foram cortadas em triângulos, coladas a mão sobre um tecido e depois aplicado sobre a estátua.
Sua Inauguração foi em 12 de Outubro de 1931.
Em 2007 foi eleito uma das 7 maravilhas do mundo moderno.
