Good morning, friends!
A few weeks have passed since my last post... sorry about that. 😕
Anyway, here's a new entry for the 130th Edition of PhotoChain Challenge, hosted by @davidesimoncini. The keywords for this week are Foliage and Ruins, picked by the previous winners of the challenge: @adinapoli and @klub-wloczykijow.
(My personal keyword is... Rocks.)
First of all, here's a panoramic shot of the ancient city fortifications of the city Zvolen, in Slovakia. This structure can be found in a small park next to the train station, just a few yards away from the castle.
Next, I'll leave a few photos I took of these walls. They were in pretty good shape for such old ruins so I guess they have been restored or reconstructed a bit. 🤔
In addition, the vegetation was not very abundant. It seems like the locals keep it trimmed so it doesn't grow out of control, covering the entire fortification walls. That's what usually happens when buildings are not maintained.
Here, on the other hand, things were quite clean. Good job from the city hall's workers.
Along the walls there were big holes, most likely these served as shelter for the soldiers while they were defending the city. Each "cave" was big enough to accommodate 2 or 3 men plus a few guns and food. 😎
Nowadays they have little purpose - other than being a tourist attraction... at most these will be good to protect you from the rain, in case you forget your umbrella. 😆
Most of the wall was closed off with the exception of this passage arc. This particular spot should be heavily guarded in times of war. I imagine quite a few bloodbaths have taken place here - in times long gone by. 💂♂️ ⚔️
I hope you have enjoyed my article and photos. Please leave a small comment down below. 😉
