The Sanctuary of Truth Temple, Thailand.

We all know that Temples or Churches in any country are amazing places to visit if you are into architectural, paintings on ceiling or pretty colored stained glass windows in churches all impressive right but you haven't seen anything like above till you have seen, The Sanctuary of Truth, I thought I had seen some of the best Temples in Thailand and churches in Europe but this Temple absolutely left me in awe. The Sanctuary of Truth is tucked away on the Wongamat Beach shoreline of Naklua in northern Pattaya, Thailand, this whole amazing structure is entirely carved out of teak wood in and out with not one single steel nail used in constructing this huge Temple which stands at an height of 105 meters.

I believe they have been building this temple since the 1980's and it is still not complete, actually commencement in the year of 1981. The whole inspiration of building this temple came from Mr Lek and Mrs Prapa Viriyahbhun who are also the creators of the Ancient City and the Erawan Museum in Bangkok, also worth a visit if ever in Bangkok, the reasons behind building these magnificent masterpieces is to maintain old arts and culture among people in today's world to appreciate the arts and culture showing the world how to live together in peace and harmony.

The entrance fee to see this beautiful masterpiece is 500 Baht ( $15 US ) and with that you get a tour guide that will show you around and explain the meanings of the different parts of the temple structure but doing the guided tour is not mandatory you can wonder around yourself if you like and they will supply you with a hard hat while touring inside the temple, because there is still ongoing work in the temple.

All the detailed carvings you see on the inside and outside of this temple like the elephants, people, creatures is all done in an workshop on site by highly skilled craftsmen and women day in day out putting many hours into there highly skilled techniques and this will go on for years as the Buddhist belief of nature none of the wood is treated or protected from the elements of the weather and climate so will need to be replaced as time goes, I guess when they finish they will be starting to cave from the other end again this is a job for life.

If you notice this temple on the inside has no carving it is plain, why you may say because it is said in the Buddhist religious, that we came into this life with nothing and we leave this life without anything and this temple is to show us that.

What I did notice walking around this gigantic wooden temple that Mr Lek and Mrs Prapa Viriyahbhun are building this temple without being tied to a single religion they want to show the art and culture not only in Thai but in Khmer, Chinese and Indian religious iconography respectively to show that we are all one living in peace and harmony in one world.

The whole concept and the story of all these carving seen in this temple, no matter what race or culture is telling us show respect towards the ones that deserve it not to the ones that demand it, surround yourself with people that empower you to become better if we all live by not been greedy we all become better people. The four element that endorse these goodness in us are the God of Earth, God of Wind, God of Fire and God of Water without these we can not exist.

The Sanctuary of Truth also details the kindness of parents and the importance of family in amazing detailed carvings. This I would say is the most beautiful temple in the world nothing else could compare to this icon wooden temple in Pattaya City, definitely worth a visit if your even out this way.
