The Stratford Canal - Warwickshire

Hail to the Hive!

We venture north on the Stratford Canal leaving behind the lovely Town of Stratford Upon Avon. We will be back for sure.

Our first stop isn't in keeping with the lovely quaint town of Stratford Upon Avon as it looks like an abandined canal side garage. But it does have a canal and eiver trust water point and an Elsan to empty our cassette toilet (which is good as it's full to the brim!)

So fill up with 500 litres of water for free and drop off the unmentioanables , also for free (thankfully)

It seems that whatever this place was before it closed, used to pump diesel. Alas no more otherwise I would have topped up as it's convenient.

Within no time at all after a few locks we are back in the glorious countryside. It never fils to amaze me how beautiful the English countryside actually is.

The weather is also typically English and I'll bet anything we get a soaking at some point today/

@millycf1976 efficiently working the locks. They are a bit awkward on the stratford canal but we are getting used to doing locks now.

IMG-8069.jpg

Ohh the sinshine is back....as is another lock.

IMG-8067.jpg

No fear @millycf1976 is on it...literally!

Ok there's an aquaduct ahead to take the Narrowboat over a road and a little valley.A sky canal if you will.

Edstone Aqueduct

IMG-8085.jpg

Ahh squeaky bum time as we take Narrowboat Badger over an aqueduct at tree top height!

Now apparently this aqueduct is the longest cast iron one in England. (wales has a longer and higher one YIKES!)

IMG-8087.jpg

hmmm walkway on my right, certain death fall on my left.

It's 145m long and about 11m high at it's highest point.

And after all tht excitement it's time to find a sleepy spot. Somewhere nice and secluded, surrounded by nature.

Like this.

IMG-8075.jpg

This will certainly do for tonight. I think I will take a wander around as well and see whats around the corner.

Old grass covered foot bridges connecting farmers fields.

And muddy tow paths.

Ok lets get back to badger for some fod, beers and hopefully a sunset.

IMG-8081.jpg

Think it may be a wet night but we will be tucked up and warm inside badger.

Nearly time for bed and a lovely sunset to round off the day.
