Heading to Mount Bromo, our feet will be greeted by a sand trap along one of the mountains in East Java. If we go to Bromo in the morning we will see the beautiful color of the sand reflected in the sunlight. When morning greets you, the sand here seems to whisper in the wind.

As we walked, we could see several buildings standing around the area. One of them is the Poten Building. This sturdy building standing in the middle of a sea of sand is a place of worship for the Tengger tribe. Balinese Hindu style architecture is very sentimental towards this building. Each gate has a statue guarded by a smiling lion. These statues are intended to ward off evil spirits that disturb the Mount Bromo area.

Mount Bromo is not only a tourist attraction but also a place where Hindu religious rituals are carried out. One of the ceremonies held here every year by the Tengger tribe is the Ardeniya Kasada ceremony. In this ritual, the Tengger tribe people make offerings in the form of livestock and food to the gods who inhabit the mountainous areas of the region, such as Mount Semeru, Mount Batok, Mount Bromo and Mount Panangakan.
