Hello everyone!
A few years ago I had the opportunity to go to Jelenia Góra for a short sightseeing tour. The city itself has less than 80,000. inhabitants (the entire agglomeration is just over 200,000) and is surrounded by various mountains: Kaczawskie from the north, Rudawy Janowickie from the east, Karkonosze from the south and Izerskie from the west. Due to this location, it can be an alternative to Szklarska Poreba or Karpacz as a starting point for trips to the mountains and visiting nearby attractions, such as Chojnik Castle.
The limited time did not allow us to see all the interesting places in the city. In practice, the tour was limited to the Town Hall Square and its surroundings, as well as one viewpoint on the way back. Nevertheless, what we managed to see was worth the trip.

Kilka lat temu miałem okazję pojechać do Jeleniej Góry na krótkie zwiedzanie. Same miasto posiada niecałe 80 tys. mieszkańców (cała aglomeracja nieco ponad 200 tys.) i otoczone jest przez różne góry: od północy Kaczawskie, od wschodu Rudawy Janowickie, od południa Karkonosze i od zachodu Izerskie. Ze względu na tę lokalizację może być alternatywą dla Szklarskiej Poręby czy Karpacza jako baza wypadowa w góry i zwiedzanie okolicznych atrakcji jak np. zamku Chojnik.
Ograniczony czas nie pozwolił na zobaczenie wszystkich ciekawych miejsc w mieście. W praktyce zwiedzanie ograniczyło się do Placu Ratuszowego i jego okolicy oraz jednego punktu widokowego w drodze powrotnej. Niemniej jednak to co udało się zobaczyć było warte przyjazdu.

I do not know whether these baroque tenement houses have been renovated or not to this day. It is a pity that some of these old buildings required renovation, because the tourist potential of these old tenement houses is considerable. They have tourist potential for sure.
Nie wiem czy do dziś zostały te barokowe kamienice wyremontowane czy też nie. Szkoda, że część takich starych budynków wymagało remontu, bo potencjał turystyczny tych starych kamienic jest spory. Potencjał turystyczny mają na pewno.
Above, there is a wider view of the Town Hall Square, its tenement houses and gardens of various restaurants. So it is a classic of many cities with a historic center.
Powyżej szerszy widok na plac Ratuszowy, jego kamienice i przy nich rozstawione ogródki różnych restauracji. Czyli jest to taka klasyka wielu miast z zabytkowym centrum.
In the Jelenia Góra Market Square there is a Town Hall built in the middle of the 18th century. It is now the seat of the city's administrative authorities. There are benches under the building with the best city monitoring, i.e. seniors :)
Na Rynku Jeleniogórskim znajduje się Ratusz wzniesiony w połowie XVIII wieku. Jest on obecnie siedzibą władz administracyjnych miasta. Pod budynkiem znajdują się ławeczki z najlepszym miejskim monitoringiem, czyli seniorami :)
There is a historic red tram next to the Town Hall. The tram network was closed in the 1960s. It is therefore the only tram in the city, although it originally comes from another city.
Obok Ratusza znajduje się zabytkowy czerwony tramwaj. Sieć tramwajowa została zlikwidowana w latach 60'tych XX wieku. Jest to zatem jedyny tramwaj w mieście, chociaż oryginalnie pochodzi z innego miasta.
As you can see in the photo above, it is now the "Tramwaj" Postal Agency.
Jak widać na powyższym zdjęciu obecnie jest to Agencja Pocztowa "Tramwaj".
The arcades on the Town Hall Square have steps due to the town's location on a hilly area. During the walk, they gave the impression that they were not fully used for tourists.
Podcienia na Placu Ratuszowym są ze schodkami ze względu na położenie miasta na terenie pagórkowatym. Podczas spaceru sprawiały wrażenie na nie w pełni wykorzystane turystycznie.

The Wojanowska Tower and Gate in the city center are decorated with rococo cartouches with the coats of arms of Jelenia Góra, Silesia and Prussia. In the Middle Ages they were part of a defensive complex, although then there was a larger tower. It is present from the second half of the 18th century.
Baszta i Brama Wojanowska w centrum miasta ozdobione rokokowymi kartuszami z herbami Jeleniej Góry, Śląska i Prus. W czasach średniowiecza były częścią kompleksu obronnego, chociaż wtedy stała większa baszta. Obecna jest z drugiej połowy XVIII wieku.

Grodzka Tower built in the 15th century. Currently, there is a hostel here, so if someone wants to stay in such an old building, he can book a place in it.
Baszta Grodzka wybudowana w XV wieku. Obecnie mieści się tutaj hostel, więc jak ktoś ma ochotę na nocleg w tak starym budynku to może zarezerwować sobie w nim miejsce.

The city of Jelenia Góra could not fail to present the symbol of the city in various forms.
W mieście Jelenia Góra nie mogło zabraknąć przedstawienia symbolu miasta w różnych formach.
Jeleniogórski stilt walker in the corner of the Town Hall. The 2013 sculpture was created as a monument to the establishment of the first street theater festival in Poland, which took place in 1983 in Jelenia Góra.

The Neptune Fountain in the market square was built on the site of a 19th century well and is to commemorate the good trade relations between local merchants and overseas countries.
Fontanna Neptuna na rynku stanęła na miejscu studni z XIX wieku i ma upamiętniać dobre stosunki handlowe tutejszych kupców z krajami zamorskimi.
I liked the city and I would like to visit it again someday to see more of its places.
Miasto mi się spodobało i chętnie je jeszcze kiedyś odwiedzę aby zwiedzić więcej jego miejsc.
