Les Gorges d'Ait Mansour: Morooco's Grand Canyon

We left Tiznet after getting the cushion covers done and headed inland, aiming for Zagora with a slight detour that would take us through some amazing scenery that we didn't see coming.

The road climbed ever upward, Butters heating up and cooling down on any slight downhills. The views were incredible.

At the top we stopped for breakfast and chatted for some time to some English people. He was a druid, though you would have never guessed, and used to run the Series 2 club in the south west UK apparently, so he appreciated our car. So many retirees come out to Morocco for three months, pitch a giant caravan somewhere and go off on day trips.

Jamie kept saying there was something up ahead, but wouldn't tell me what. I didn't quote trust it was going to be as amazing as it was.

Les Gorges d'Ait Mansour

First of all please appreciate it is so hard to get all these photos uploaded and arranged on my phone on the road so excuse me if the order is off. I don't think it matters too much. Also, it was pretty hot and a lot of these were taken from the window of the Landie!

Still, I think they show how incredible this place was and hands down one of best drives we have ever done. Not only that, we were the only ones EXCEPT for a group of classic cars - an old Bentley that had travelled as far as the Himalayas, and old Merc, a Porsche and a Lotus. It felt like we had gone into a time warp!!!

When we stopped for a breather half way along the road we chatted to them for ages. The mechanic that was with the expedition was totally smitten with Buttercup and had two Defenders at home himself. In fact, everyone seemed to love our Series more than their own classic vehicle!!

The road took up past a huge natural window in the rock called Window of Life - go google it as it is mind-blowing. I just couldn't capture it as we drove past, but you can glimpse it in one of our Instagram reels (@roving_tracks, please give us a follow!)

Honestly this place blew our minds. There's not much more to be said about it really.

So, like the worst Hive travel blogger, I'm just going to leave you with a heap of photos to admire.

With Love,
