A Trip to West Bali National Park

I took my family on a trip to West Bali last week, wanting them to experience its unique charm. West Bali, situated in the western part of my island, is mostly forested. It's a stunning place with diverse flora and fauna, showcasing the beauty of the West Bali forest. The forest is located by a coral beach, offering a picturesque view of the blue ocean waters.

The journey took about half an hour from our hometown, a small town called Negara. We drove from the main road into smaller roads weaving through the West Bali forest. Some trees lacked leaves, possibly due to an extended dry season with minimal rain. Despite this, the view of the trees, birds, and squirrels was still captivating.

After about 20 minutes into the forest, we reached a restaurant called Octagon. This wasn't just a restaurant; it was also an Ocean Club, featuring a swimming pool where customers could relax after their meal. Activities like snorkeling were also available, providing a unique experience of enjoying nature.

Typically, visitors would engage in snorkeling or trekking before heading to the restaurant for drinks or a meal, followed by a refreshing dip in the pool. Outside the restaurant, close to the entrance, there was a large sanctuary for the Bali Mynah, a rare and endangered bird species endemic to the island. The restaurant actively contributed to the conservation efforts for these birds, serving as the mascot for Bali.

After indulging in drinks and snacks at the restaurant, I explored the area and encountered some deer. They were remarkably tame, likely because they had limited human interaction. However, as I approached them, they would timidly move away.

My family and I had a fantastic time in this place. The kids enjoyed the swimming pool, tried the swings, and we strolled along the beach for some selfies and photos. Overall, it was a delightful experience for all of us.
