Greetings to my lovely hivers.
In my previous post i share my experience and pics of udaipur trip.
Today i am sharing about The City Palace of Udaipur.
I want to write a full blog about the city palace because there I gained so much knowledge about the history and I spend 4 hours in the palace. We took a guide there who told us about the history and the palace very well.
The city palace was built over a period nearly 400 years with the contributions from several rulers if Mewar dynasty. The construction was started by Maharana Udai Singh of sisodia Rajput family. The palace is located on the east Bank of Lake pichola. This palace was built over a long period by 22 generations of sisodia Rajputs.
The palace complex has been built entirely by granites and marbles.
The interiors of the balconies, towers, dome exhibit delicate mirror- work, marble- work, silver-work, wall- paintings and colored glasses. The complex provides a view of the lake, and the city from its upper terrace.
Outside the palace I.e the road between the Gate and palace is linked with numerous craft shops, bookbinders, boutique, painters, textile dealers and handmadedecorations stuffs.
The main entrance from the city is through the Badi Pol(Great Gate). It leads to the triple arched gate ,which provides the entry.
Outer view of the palace.
BADI MAHAL
It is a graden palace in the central. There is a swimming pool here which was then used for holi festival celebration. The festival of colors.
ZENANA MAHAL
It has a crystal gallery ,consisting dressing table, chairs, sofas and beds.
Now this chamber is converted into a museum and opend for public.
KRISHNA VILLAS
It is another chamber which has a rich collection of miniature royal paintings, festivals and games of the Maharanas.
MANAK MAHAL
The largest emblem is seen on the wall of the Surya Chopar.
It was customary for the Maharanas to offer obeisance to the Sun, every morning before taking breakfast.
MOR CHOWK
Mor chowk or Peacock🦚 square is integral to the inner courts of the palace. The elaborate design of this chamber consists of three peacocks representing the three seasons of summer, winter and Monsoon. It's has colored glasses and built in the wall area of Jharoka(window). The peacocks have been crafted with 5000 pieces of colored glass which shine in green blue and gold colors.
