Hiking to Falcon valley

Falcon valley is one of the wildest gorges of the Slovak Paradise. It was discovered as one of the last and the first passage through this gorge was not until 1910. And we decided to visit this gorge.

Our journey begins in Čingov, where we parked our car and set off along the Hornád River and later along the White brook to the mouth of the Falcon valley. The ascent along the stream is gradual and the hiking trail is interesting. From time to time we walk over the stream on wooden footbridges, on which we must be careful. Due to the high humidity, water condenses on them and in some places they are slippery. But at least the way is more interesting.

At the mouth of the Falcon valley, we leave the White brook and enter the gorge, which is 4 kilometers long. We walk through a narrow gorge, we pass through old fallen trees, from time to time we jump over a stream that created this beauty.

We come to one of the waterfalls that you can see in this gorge. It is a rocky waterfall. I really like this waterfall. Mainly because I can hide behind him in a rock cliff.

After we have taken pictures from each side under the waterfall and we continue. We climb slowly up the steep hill. The reward for this ascent is the Závojový Waterfall, which falls down from a large rock. With a length of 75 meters, it is the highest waterfall in the Slovak Paradise National Park.

Originally, the passage through the waterfall was a traverse up the hill. At present, you go up the ladders. The waterfall is really impressive.

I also like Vyšný waterfall, which is a little further behind Závojový waterfall.

We continue along a narrow path further along the gorge.

I'm still taking a few photos of the gorge and waterfalls and we're entering the forest.

We walk through a nice old forest and I find that I probably have a weakness for old trees. They are something special and interesting for me and they are definitely worth taking a picture of.

After a fairly steep descent, first along the forest and later after the felling, we descend down into the valley to White brook and the Klauzy dam. This dam was always used to transport wood down the valley to the village of Smižany. It is currently used for fish farming.

Now we only have a pleasant walk ahead of us. We continue along the purge of the White brook and later along the Hornád river to the parking lot, where we have a parked car. We walk the path that the harvested wood went after the dam was drained. It just continued down the river a little further than we did.

Well thank you.
