A Journey back in Time. Exploring the Historic Plaza San Juan de Dios in Camagüey, Cuba

That there is a community of Pinmapple, today we continue walking through the province of Camaguey, finding me in the Plaza San Juan de Dios which I really liked for its architectural structure that breathes history. This architectural ensemble from the 18th century, declared a National Monument, falls in love with its authenticity, preserving the original layout and the buildings of those times.

The center of the square beats to the rhythm of the old life of the Convent-Hospital San Juan de Dios, whose traces are still in every corner.

The Museum, located in this square, took me back to that time teaching me the history of this great city and its paintings showing every corner of it.

I really liked the imposing Church as it looks in the square, especially after knowing that it is the only representation of the Holy Trinity preserved in Cuba.

And not only history, there is also a special place that was the one that attracted me to take a break called ”La Campana de Toledo” which added a distinctive touch to my stay, since I was able to sit quietly and enjoy a cocktail while I recreated myself watching the surroundings. This Restaurant-Bar is from an old restored house, where the ringing of a bell when being received and fired becomes the particular hallmark of the hospitality that is experienced.

Thus, between cobbled alleys and buildings that whisper stories, the Plaza San Juan de Dios stands like a beacon in time, inviting you to immerse yourself in the history and customs of this city of Camagüey.

I hope you liked this place, it left me very excited and with the satisfaction of having been here, do not forget to visit them if you walk in these directions, a greeting to all.

All photos are in my possession.
