The itinerary that we will make begins in Santa Fe, a tourist town in the state of Sucre divided into two sectors, the Altos de Santa Fe, located between the mountains of the Mochima National Park and the Port of Santa Fe, located on the shores of the Caribbean Sea or Sea of the Antilles.
Santa Fe has a population of approximately twenty thousand inhabitants and its main economic activities are fishing and agriculture, in addition to tourism which is the main source of income.

El itinerario que realizaremos inicia en Santa Fe, poblado turístico del estado Sucre dividido en dos sectores, el de los Altos de Santa Fe, ubicado entre las montañas del Parque Nacional Mochima y el Puerto de Santa Fe, ubicado a las orillas del Mar Caribe o Mar de Las Antillas.
Santa Fe tiene una población aproximada de veinte mil habitantes y sus principales actividades económicas son la pesca y la agricultura, además del turismo que es la fuente principal de sus ingresos.

We arrive at the market area of the town where there is a permanent transit of people who go daily to look for their food constituted in great measure by marine fruits and also by the travelers who use the boats or peñeros, as they are popularly known, to move towards the different surrounding populations and to carry out the walks by all the extensive marine territory of the Mochima National Park.

Llegamos a la zona del mercado del pueblo donde hay un permanente tránsito de personas que diariamente van a buscar sus alimentos constituidos en gran medida por frutos marinos y también por los viajeros que utilizan los botes o peñeros, como se les conoce popularmente, para trasladarse hacia las distintas poblaciones circunvecinas y para realizar los paseos por todo el extenso territorio marino del Parque Nacional Mochima.

It is exciting to arrive at the port and be part of this wonderful habitat where the sky becomes wider and deeper reflecting in the blue waters, where the fishermen carry out their work unloading the products extracted from the sea, with the noise of the engines of the peñeros and the pelicans that form an essential part of this wonderful landscape.

Es emocionante llegar al puerto y formar parte de este maravilloso hábitat donde el cielo se hace más ancho y profundo reflejándose en las azules aguas, donde los pescadores realizan sus labores descargando los productos extraídos del mar, con el ruido de los motores de los peñeros y los pelícanos que forman parte esencial de este maravilloso paisaje.

We go to sea in a small boat driven by an expert sea lion who knows all the mysteries and secrets of these tropical waters. Many families make this trip periodically as a remedy to de-stress and change the routine of daily life.

Nos hacemos a la mar en una pequeña lancha conducida por un experto lobo marino que conoce todos los misterios y secretos de estas aguas tropicales. Muchas familias hacen este paseo de forma periódica como remedio para desestresarse y cambiar la rutina de la vida cotidiana.

Mochima National Park has an extension of 94,935 hectares, 52% of which is marine area.

In this colossal pond most of its inhabitants are initiated from childhood in the arts of navigation and fishing. They are men and women who carry the sea in their blood and the open sky in their eyes.

En este colosal estanque la mayoría de sus pobladores se inician desde la infancia en las artes de la navegación y de la pesca. Son hombres y mujeres que llevan el mar en la sangre y el cielo abierto en la mirada.

On the shores of Mochima National Park there are inns, hotels, recreational clubs, and rental houses, among other alternatives, so that visitors and seasonal workers can enjoy the great benefits of breathing and being in permanent communion with the marine atmosphere.

En las orillas del Parque Nacional Mochima se encuentran posadas, hoteles, clubes recreativos, casas de alquiler, entre otras alternativas, para que los visitantes y temporadistas disfruten de los grandes beneficios que proporciona respirar y estar en comunión permanente con la atmósfera marina.

We arrived at the community of Playa Caballo where we bought fresh fish from the sea and talked with the local fishermen, humble and very kind people who offered us their hospitality and affection. There I was able to take these beautiful photographs.

Llegamos a la comunidad de Playa Caballo en donde compramos pescado recién sacado del mar y conversamos con los pescadores del lugar, gente humilde y muy amable que nos ofrecieron su hospitalidad y cariño. Allí pude tomar estas hermosas fotografías.
