Stone Garden, A Historical Tourist Spot in Indonesia

At the beginning of the introduction, I had worked as a reporter. In the past, I've done coverage to several tourist attractions in Bandung. one of the tourist spots that I like the most is "Stone Garden". Stone Garden is one of the tourist attractions in Bandung. I took this photo a long time ago. The picture I post is a remnant from my 2015 coverage. I want to share a little story about my experience when I visited this place.

A Historical Site

this place is similar to one of the British tours, Stonehenge. At Stonehenge the scenery is very beautiful. many rocks standing upright on the hill. The view is so beautiful when I googled it. For your information, Stone Garden in Bandung is one of the historical places in West Java.

---

The rocks here are remnants of pre-historic natural events. Based on the information I got in the interview, this place consists of a pile of stones at the bottom of an ancient Bandung lake. This place was formed by a volcanic eruption millions of years ago.

In the past, the Bandung area was an area that was inundated with water from a lake called Lake Bandung. Today, the rock garden is called the 'Bandung Basin'. If you've heard the story about "Sangkuriangan", this place is very close to the story. Not far from here, there is another historical tour called "Pawon Cave". This place is the anger of Sangkuriang to "Dayang Sumbi". The result of that anger, finally turned to stone.

Found in 2000

This tourist spot was discovered by researchers in 2000. I actually live near this place, but I rarely visit this place myself. This tourist spot is located at an altitude of 709 meters above sea level. For rock climbers, this place is heaven for them to enjoy.

I compare this place to Stonehenge in England. There is a difference with this place when compared to Stonehenge. The stones in Stonehenge are neatly arranged, but the stones in this wizard's place are scattered. The distribution of these rocks is caused by heat. Some of these stones also resemble entrances. So, I thought that the rock in the rock garden was the gate stone.

---

In fact, at the top of this site found the position of human-like stones that are attached to each other. I think that in ancient times, this place was one of the dwelling places of mankind. Another thing, from interviews I did, found fossils of some coral animals on the hills. From the interviews I got, if those things happened 27 million years ago. And the highlands of Bandung are shallow seas.

So do not be surprised if fossils of coral animals are found on several hills. In addition, in this area also found andesite rocks. The andesite rocks found are round and large in layers on a person's seat. It also surrounds the limestone in the middle. There is a possibility if this place is the location of offerings by the people of the megalithic era.

Tourist Places for Long Vacations

In Indonesia there are several traditions that need to be known. One of them is a long holiday after fasting and New Year's holiday. At that time, the number of visitors to this place will increase. Based on the results of my coverage, the number of visitors during long holidays will be more than Saturday and Sunday holidays. There are 50 percent of local tourists who visit this location. And 30 percent of visitors come from outside Bandung.

---

The total daily visitors on long holidays can reach 1,600 people. However, during the fasting and new year holidays, visitors can reach 10 thousand people. For Saturday and Sunday holidays at most only 500 people. For weekdays (Monday-Friday) only 200 people. How about the ticket price?

For those of you who want to visit this place, you don't need to worry. This place is really cheap. You have to pay twelve rupiah for the entrance ticket. For those of you who bring a vehicle, you only pay five thousand rupiah for motorbike parking. while the price for parking a car is only seven thousand rupiah.

In addition to sightseeing, this is a place that can be used as a camping destination. For camping, the price is quite cheap. For one night, you only pay twenty thousand rupiah. the price of parking is quite cheap, you only pay fifteen thousand a night for the price of motorbike parking. while, twenty thousand rupiah for the price of car parking.

---

For shooting movies and video clips will have different prices. For filming up to 18 million rupiah. Meanwhile, for video shooting, you have to pay seven million rupiah per project.

Facilities Provided

the community that manages this place provides several places that can be used by visitors. One of them is "hamlet bamboo". This place is reserved for those of you who feel tired when walking around this place. Young tourists really like this place because it is an interesting photo spot. For those of you who are thirsty and hungry during the trip, there is no need to worry. There is plenty of food and drink for sale. Even the community is very friendly with visitors. For those of you who are Muslim, this place also provides a place of worship. Another thing, which you can rent here is a hammock to lie down among the rocks while enjoying the cool mountains.
