Welcome again to my blog. I'm so glad that you are here. Today is the last post related to my maharatha trip. At last we visited to ellora caves and grishneswar jyotirlinga. At jyotirlinga they don't allowed mobile inside, so i don't have any photographs related this temple, but I'll share some photographs of ellora caves.
How to reach there :
Ellora caves situated 30 km away from Aurangabad.
From nashik distance is 172 km.
From Aurangabad we can reach there via taxi or bus.
In the way there is a famous fort named daulatabad fort. If you have time first you can visit here and than went to ellora and ajanta caves.
About ellora caves:
Ellora caves is an archaeological site. These caves are famous for rock-cut architecture and sculpture . The invaluable ensemble of 34 caves at Ellora in the charanandari hill. There are total 100 caves but only 34 caves are open.
These consist 12 (1-12 number) Buddhist , 17 (13- 29 number) Hindu and 5 ( 30 - 34 number ) jain caves carved out 2 km long Cliff-face.
Most famous cave is number 16 kailasha temple.
The rock sculpture in ellora are included in the world heritage site list by UNESCO.
Entry fees :
They charged 40rs. For per Indian.
My experience:
After visiting bibi-ka-maqbara we proceed to Ellora caves. It was raining when we reached. After buying entry ticket and hire a guide who charged 600 INR we moved towards tha lawn. Guide said that many caves entrance become slippery during rain. We also have a hectic schedule so we decided to only visit famous caves. While entering i captured some shots, let's enjoy first :

Guide explained that where Ellora caves is famous for sculptures, there Ajanta caves is famous for paintings.
The Jain temples are located at the northern end, the hindu caves and temples are in the center and the Buddhist caves are at the southern end.
We started with Buddhist caves.
Cave no. 1- 9 :

I think this waterfall from cave no. 7 .
Out of 12 buddhist caves only one is prayer hall. Rest are monasteries . Where we can saw diffrent different buddha statue. We can enjoy beautiful Waterfall and unbelievable sculptures.

Cave no. 10 which known as the carpenter caves because rock has been given a finish that has the apprence of wooden beems.
Look at this ...how beautiful and unrealistic it is. I was so amazed after watch it.
At the heart of this cave there is a 15 foot statue of buddha seated in preaching pose.
Cave no. 14:
Cave no. 14 known as ravan ki khai.
The pillers of hall is plain and square.
This cave represent the sculpture of many god and goddess and ravan also.
Cave no. 15 :
The cave no. 15 temple known as a dasavtra temple. It is a double storeyed structure.
Cave no. 16 :
Out of all 34 caves cave no. 16 named kailash temple is most famous cave. It is the main attraction. It is said that temple is built with one rock only. This is unbelievable. One more amazing thing is that it is sculpted from the top to the bottom.
This is designed to recall mount kailash , the Adobe of lord Shiva. It's largest monolithic structure in the world.

The ellora caves are grander and magnificent. We feel so magical after visit there.
