Cycling in Kranjska Gora (Slovenia)

Kranjska Gora is a small tourist resort, nestled in the Julian Alps. It offers many opportunities for outdoor activities all year round. I was there numerous times, last time it was during a week-end in July 2020. The summer was not as I would expect, since it was cold and rainy, ….but with some hours of clear blue sky and mild temperatures… ideal for cycling.

There are numerous cycling trails that you can take, but the most picturesque and ideal for whole family is the ones that goes from Mojstrana town to Kranjska Gora (the whole trail is from Jesenice to Laghi di Fusine in Italy, 33 kilometres) on the terrain where once was a railway. It is an easy and relaxing cycling that offers breathing views of the surrounding mountain peaks. On the way you can stop at one of the local bars or cafes, for a refreshing drink or ice-cream.

A must stop on the rout (for us our final destination..well the rest point from where we returned back to our car and the starting pint) is the Jasna Lake. I can confirm that is true what they are saying – the surrounding mountains reflects in the clear waters of the lake. The absolutely astonishing water invites you for a swim, but it really cold, so I preferred a cold drink on the lakeshore a photo stop at the statue of the Gold horn.
