Hello friends!
Today was a super nice day, as we went for walk in Old Town San Diego. The weather was super nice, as even though it was sunny, it wasn't that hot.
Here is a little bit about this historic site:
Old Town San Diego is called the birth place of California because in 1769 Father Junipero Serra, along with a group of Spanish soldiers, established the first permanent European settlements in California.
In 1821 Mexico became independent from Spain, and in 1822 a new military command, along with the former Spanish soldiers, created a community at the base of the Presidio. Today, most of that area is Old Town State historical park. They made the structures of sun-dried adobe bricks, and four of those adobe brick buildings still stand today.
Mexico’s rule ended in 1846 with the signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. In 1850, California became a state, and San Diego was incorporated as a city that same year.

Olá Pessoal!
Hoje foi um dia ótimo, pois fomos dar uma caminhada em Old Town San Diego. O tempo estava bem gostoso, pois estava sol, mas não estava muito quente.
Aqui um pouco sobre esse lugar histórico:
Old Town San Diego é chamado de o local de nascimento da California pois em 1769 Father Junipero Serra, junto com um grupo de soldados Espanhois, estabeleceram o primeiro acentamento Europeu permanente na California.
Em 1821 o Mexico se tornou independente da Espanha, e em 1822 o novo comando militar, junto com os antigos soldados Espanhois, criaram uma comunidade na base do Presidio. Hoje a maior parte desta area é Old Town San Diego. Eles construiram as estruturas com tijolos de adobe, e quatro destas construções estão de pé até hoje.
O mandado do Mexico terminou em 1846 com a assinatura do tratado de Guadalupe Hidalgo. Em 1850, a California se transformou em estado, e San Diego foi incorporado como cidade naquele mesmo ano.

Right in the middle of Old Town, there is a big plaza with grass and trees, and around the plaza you can see all the old buildings. There are lots of shops, museums and restaurants.

No meio de Old Town, tem uma praça grande, com um gramado, muitas arvores, e em volta voce pode ver muitas lojas, museus, e restaurantes.

We stopped for lunch and had some great mexican food. I was so hungry that I forgot to take pictures of the food. But at least I got a picture of the appetizers and my beer.

Nós Paramos para almoçar e comemos uma ótima comida mexicana. Eu estava com tanta fome que esqueci de tirar umas fotos da minha comida. Mas pelo menos tirei uma foto dos aperitivos e da minha cerveja.

There are lots of shops offering souveniers, indian jewlery, books and handcrafted arts. You can certainly find a nice gift here.

On our way, we decided to stop at the Whaley House. This house is known as one of the most haunted houses in America. We took the tour and it's doesn't look very haunted, maybe at night it could be.
The Whaley House was a central pillar amongst the Old Town San Diego community. From 1857 to the early part of the 20th century, the Whaley House became the gathering place for the entire San Diego community. Besides being the Whaley family home, it was also San Diego’s first commercial theater, the second county courthouse, and a bilingual general store.

No nosso caminho decidimos parar na Whaley House. Esta casa é conhecida como uma das casas mais assombradas dos EUA. Nós fizemos o tour pela casa, e não achei muito assombrada. Talvez a noite ela possa ser um pouco mais assustadora.
A Whaley House era um pilar central da comunidade de Old Town San Diego. De 1857 até o início do século 20, a Whaley House tornou-se o ponto de encontro de toda a comunidade de San Diego. Além de ser a casa da família Whaley, também foi o primeiro teatro comercial de San Diego, o segundo tribunal do condado e uma loja bilíngue.

After we left the Whaley House, we kept walking a little more and saw a few other interesting spots, like the stable, the blacksmith, and the Cosmopolitan Hotel.

Depois que saimos da Whaley House, continuamos caminhando um pouco mais e vimos mais alguns lugares interessantes, como o estabulo, o ferreiro, e o Cosmopolitan Hotel.
