A couple weeks ago we went camping at William Heise County Park and I've been wanting to write a post about it, but have been too busy and just now I'm taking the time to do it.
William Heise is located in the northern part of the Laguna Mountain Range, 4200 feet above sea level, in a oak, pine and cedar forest, just south of Julian, CA.
The campground has a total of 103 campsites. Some are for tents and some for RVs and trailers. They also have cabins for rent. There are restrooms with showers, fresh drinking water, and a dump station. All campsites have a picnic table and a fire ring.
We got there on Friday afternoon and stayed until Sunday.

Ha duas semanas atras nós fomos acampar em William Heise County Park (um parque do condado de San Diego). Eu venho querendo escrever a respeito, mas estive muito ocupado ultimamente. E agora finalmente estou escrevendo este post.
William Heise esta localizado na parte norte das montanhas de Laguna, aproximadamente 1300 metros acima do nivel do mar, em uma floresta de carvalho, pinho e cedro, pouco ao sul de Julian, CA.
A area de camping tem um total de 103 areas para camping. Algumas para tendas, outras para trailers e veículos de recreação. Eles tem também umas cabines ou chalets bem rústicas para aluguel. O camping tem banheiros com chuveiro, agua fresca potável, e uma estação de despejo para os trailers. Todas as areas de camping tem sua propria mesa de picnic e um local para fogueira.
Nós chegamos lá na Sexta-feira e ficamos até Domingo.

The days before we arrived, the park got some snow, so when we got there, there was still some snow on the ground. My kids loved seeing the snow, and we didn't expect it. We made reservations for this a couple of months in advance and we thought that by this time it would be warmer. But this year we had a longer winter and lots os precipitation, a lot more then average. On Saturday when the sun came out, all the snow around our campground melted, but I still saw quite a bit on the trails.

Nos dias anteriores a nossa chegada nevou no parque, então quando chegamos lá ainda tinha neve no chão. Meus filhos adoraram, pois não esperavamos ver neve lá essa época. Nós fizemos a reserva do camping com 2 meses de antecedencia e achavamos que nesta época ja estaria um pouco mais quente. Mas esse ano o inverno foi muito mais rigoroso do que a média, e tivemos uma precipitação recorde, muito acima da média. No sabado, quando o sol apareceu, toda neve em volta do nosso camping derreteu, mas ainda vimos um bocado nas trilhas.

Cedar Creek runs right next to the campground, so we decided to do a little hike and check it out. The trail still had a lot of snow, some parts were very slippery and others very muddy. Since we've been getting a lot of rain/snow, the creek had a lot of water flowing.

Um riacho chamado Cedar Creek passa dentro do parque, e nós decidimos fazer uma pequena trilha para ir ver. A trilha ainda tinha bastante neve, e em algumas partes estava bem escorregadia e em outras com muita lama. E como tivemos muita precipitação nos últimos tempos, o riacho estava cheio, com bastante agua correndo.

After a walk, we decided to drive to Julian, to buy an apple pie. Julian is very famous for the apple pies, since the town produces a lot of apples. We also went to a cidery to get some local apple hard cider. When we got back, we cooked some lunch.

Depois da caminhada, resolvemos pegar o carro para ir a Julian comprar uma torta de maçã. Julian é uma cidade famosa por suas tortas de maçã, pois tem uma grande produção da fruta lá. Nós também aproveitamos para comprar uma sidra local, produzida por lá mesmo. Quando voltamos, nós fizemos o almoço.

We all had a great time in the mountains, sometimes we just need to disconnect a little bit. The kids have been spending too much time in front of a screen, and when we were there they didn't remember they had electronic devices.
We enjoyed a beautiful sunset, and at night we lighted the fire, and cooked some baked potatoes.

Nós nos divertimos muito nesse passeio na serra, as vezes a gente só precisa desconectar um pouco. Meus filhos passam muito tempo olhando para uma tela (computador/ipad), e enquanto estávamos lá, eles em lembraram dos seus dispositivos eletronicos.
Nós apreciamos um lindo por do sol, acendemos o fogo e cozinhamos umas batatas.
