Hello, dear Hivers! 👋🏻
As i like to say - another day, another travel blog!
Let me show you the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc ⛲️ and Museu de la Xocolata 🍫 in the city of dreams - Barcelona, Spain, through my eyes!
Hope that you'll enjoy it!
Magic Fountain of Montjuïc
The Montjuic Magic Fountain dates back to 1929. Its founder is Carlos Burgas, and the reason for its construction is the upcoming World's Fair in Barcelona.
The beauty of this landmark can be seen even during the day. Consisting of 3 rounds, which accommodate more than 3600 openings, supplying more than 2600 liters of water per second, this attraction should be included in your "must to see" list of attractions!
The Montjuic Fountain show takes place at certain hours and months! Therefore, I advise you to check on the Internet when the next performances will be!
During my visit I had the opportunity to admire this landmark! In the following shots I will try to introduce you to this so-called "magic tale" of water!
The performance lasts about half an hour and is divided into two compositional parts. In the first part, while watching the light show, you will have the opportunity to enjoy classical music. The second part, in turn, will offer you the most modern music tracks in sync with this indescribable view!
An obligatory part of this performance is the song "Barcelona" performed by Montserrat Cabaye and Freddie Mercury. It is both a symbol of the city and the fountain.
Right behind the magic fountain rises Montjuic Hill.
Located near the port 🛥 of Barcelona, today it is a major attraction. Rising to a height of 173 meters, Montjuic Hill gives you breathtaking views and "must to see" landmarks, no matter where you are.
Every year, Montjuic Hill is visited by hundreds of thousands of tourists from around the world. He manages to attract them with the many cultural and sports sites built on it.
The name "Montjuic" itself comes from the term "mountain of Jews". This is because during the early Middle Ages, a Jewish cemetery was located on this hill. Another theory for the name of this majestic hill comes from "Monte Jovis" - a Roman temple dedicated to Jupiter.
Speaking of the hill, I can not miss its main attractions, namely the Museum of National Art of Catalonia and the Miro Foundation. Among them the most interesting are the Museum of National Art of Catalonia and the Juan Miró Foundation - where you can see over 14,000 works of art, as well as three buildings built in 1992 from the Olympic Games, held in the same year!
The most notable of these are the Palau Sant Jordi arena and the telecommunication tower designed by Santiago Calatrava.
The telecommunication tower is the highest building on Montjuic Hill, that's why the view from there is the most beautiful!
Museu de la Xocolata
The next landmark I want to present to you is suitable for people of all ages and sex.
Ladies and gentlemen on your attention - Museo de la Xocolata. 🍫😇
It is located very close to the Picasso Museum and offers its visitors an incredible combination of modern technology and traditional culinary skills. On the territory of the museum you can enjoy the mastery of various masters who have made landmarks from all over the world in a reduced size and entirely from chocolate to statues of celebrities, again in a reduced size and entirely from chocolate.
Please prepare napkins, because the following shots are not for people with weak hearts 😀.
The building that currently houses the museum is directly related to soldiers who lived in it in the 18th century and consumed large amounts of this sweet temptation. The servicemen's breakfast consisted of one and a half ounces of chocolate. Can you imagine what it means to consume such a large amount of chocolate every day 🤢😀
Nowadays, visitors to the museum will have the opportunity to go on a short and adventurous journey starting with the origin of chocolate, bringing it to Europe 🇪🇺🌍 to its medical and nutritional value.
The masters of chocolate art in the museum definitely have something to surprise you with! Considering that most of their works of art are made within 10 days and for most of them more than 7 types of chocolate are used.
Each sculpture requires storage and to be performed in different temperature ranges, which further complicates their storage.
I was also extremely surprised by the fact that the museum has a children's corner where kids can make their own chocolate sculptures.
At the end of this cocoa journey I left an interesting detail!
The ticket with which you enter the museum is not a real ticket but a small chocolate made in it. 😍
Thank you for your attention! 😘🙂
