It is good when there is peace in the heart, the sun in the sky and you can travel to beautiful places in good company! This summer I traveled quite a bit, but finally I visited the sunny South Ukraine, visiting @obrij1991, together with my friends Olya and Ostap.
This is a beautiful and quite unknown to tourists region! The land where the steppe, rivers and estuaries. The land where wild places are close to industrial facilities.
Добре, коли на серці спокій, на небі сонце і ти можеш подорожувати красивими місцями у хорошій компанії! Цього літа я досить мало мандрувала, але ось нарешті побувала на сонячному Півдні, у гостях у @obrij1991, разом з моїми друзями Олею та Остапом. Це красивий і доволі невідомий для туристів край! Край, де розкинувся степ, ріки і лимани. Край, де дикі місця знаходяться поряд із промисловими об'єктами.
"Energy industry is the power of the state."
It was August 24. In our country we celebrate Independence Day! This year Ukraine is 30 years old. We wanted to celebrate this holiday in the bosom of nature, sailing in a boat.
It was wonderful and unforgettable!!! The Southern Bug River has difficult places and rapids, where people go rafting. However, it also has calm reservoirs that look like lakes. For example, the Olexandrivske Reservoir, which is needed for the operation of the local hydroelectric power plant!
Було 24 серпня. У нашій країні ми святкуємо день Незалежності! Цьогоріч Україні виповнилося 30 років. Ми хотіли відсвяткувати це свято на лоні природі, плаваючи у човні. Це було чудово і незабутньо!!! Ріка Південний Буг має складні місця і пороги, там займаються рафтингом. Проте є на ній і спокійні водосховища, схожі на озера. Наприклад Олександрівське водосховище, що потрібне для роботи місцевої гідро-електростанції!
To bring the boat to the rafting place we had to work a little! After all, there was not enough space in our small car:) So we inflated the boat by the river. And here!!! We immediately entered the realm of mighty granite rocks. There are several such places in the South. These rocks are protrusions of the Ukrainian Crystal Shield. This is one of the oldest places in Eurasia. And how beautifully these rocks are reflected in water!!
Щоб довезти човен до місця спуску довелося трохи попрацювати! Адже у нашій маленькій машині бракувало місця:) Тому ми надули човен вже біля ріки. І ось!!! Ми одразу потрапили у царство могутніх скель із граніту. Таких місць на Півдні є декілька. Ці скелі це є виступи Українського кристалічного щита. Це одне з найдавніших місць Євразії. А як красиво ці скелі відбиваються у воді!
Later we sailed to the opposite shore to relax and swim. The water was a little cold, but it didn't scare us! And how interesting to see these stones, overgrown with colorful mosses and lichens. They are warm and rough to the touch!
Згодом ми приплили до протилежного берега, щоб відпочити та поплавати. Вода була трохи холодна, але нас це не злякало! А як цікаво розглядати ці камені, порослі різнокольоровими мохами та лишайниками. Вони теплі і шорсткі на дотик!
Our next stop was Gard Island and we plunged back into the realm of reflections. In fact, I was like a child who wants to buy a lot of goodies in the store. Instead, I relentlessly tasted the new angles. These places have different thoughts and moods than the city. It's as if you're going back a thousands years.
Нашим наступним пунктом був острів Ґард і ми знову занурилися у царство відображень. Насправді я була мов дитина, яка хоче купити у магазині багато смаколиків. Натомість я невтомно смакувала новими ракурсами. У цих місцях інші думки та настрої, ніж у місті. Тут ніби повертаєшся на тисячоліття назад.
Here is the island of Gard... It is important for Ukrainians. Once there was a palanka, ie a branch of the Zaporozhian Sich, where the Cossacks lived! The Cossacks were free people who created their democracy! Mostly we study in schools that they were warriors. But they were also engaged in fishing, hunting and sometimes farming. The word "Gard" just means a barrier in the water where fish are lured to be caught. Those were interesting and difficult times. Unfortunately, the buildings have not remained since then, because they were wooden.
Аж ось острів... Він є важливий для українців. Колись тут була паланка тобто відділення Запорозької січі, де жили козаки! Переважно ми вивчаємо у школах, що це були воїни. Але також вони займалися рибальством, мисливством та іноді землеробством. Слово "Ґард" якраз означає загорожу у воді, куди заманювали рибу, щоб її потім впіймати. То були цікаві і складні часи. На жаль будівлі з того часу не лишилися, бо були дерев'яні.
We went to walk around the island. My attention was drawn to the charming flowers and tall poplar trees, which feel comfortable on rocky ground. On the island in the warm season, tourists often spend the night in tents, but this time we did not meet anyone.
Ми вийшли щоб погуляти островом. Мою увагу привернули чарівні квіти і високі дерева тополі, які комфортно почуваються на скелястому грунті. На острові у теплу пору року часто ночують у наметах туристи, але цього разу ми нікого не зустріли.
And now we sail on to see some more rocks. There is a scandal around this place from time to time. Once the island was partially flooded due to the rising level of the reservoir. Power plant managers want to raise the water level again! Then the island will be completely flooded! Activists, supporters of nature oppose this, because this action will adversely affect the ecosystem, as well as destroy the historic site.

My friends and I think that the Soviet authorities once built several power plants here (the largest of which is the South Ukrainian nuclear power plant) in order to flood historic sites. That people lost the memory of the Cossacks!
А тепер ми пливемо далі, щоб оглянути ще трохи скель. Навколо цього місця час від часу виникає скандал. Колись через підняття рівня водосховища вже було частково затоплено острів. Керівники електростанції хочуть ще раз підняти рівень води! Тоді острів буде повністю затоплено! Активісти, прихильники природи виступають проти цього, адже ця дія погано вплине на екосистему, а також буде знищено історичне місце. Ми з друзями думаємо про те, що колись радянська влада побудувала тут кілька електростанцій (найбільша з них є Южноукраїнська атомна електростанція) саме для того, щоб затопити історичні місця.
But so far the island exists. And here we see the town of Yuzhnoukrainsk in the distance. It was specially built in the 80s to service the power plant. It seems that time has frozen here. It consists mainly of 9-storey panel houses. The same is true in my hometown. Honestly, walking around Yuzhnoukrainsk I constantly feel deja vu:)
І ось ми вдалині бачимо містечко Южноукраїнськ. Воно спеціально було збудоване у 80-х роках для обслуговування станції. Здається час тут застиг. Воно складається переважно з панельних 9-поверхових домів. Такі самі є і в моєму рідному місті. Чесно кажучи, гуляючи по Южноукраїнську я постійно відчуваю дежа вю:)
Well... We should sail back. Everything around is so beautiful in the downing sun light. These are truly blessed places. No wonder our Sashko loves his native land so much!
