Exploring Marianne Beach on Trinidad's North Coast

Amazing Colors and Unique Countryside

Marianne Beach is located in a remote part of the north coast of Trinidad in a town called Blanchisseuse which translates to "the washerwoman". Its a quaint and lovely area with lush jungles, beautiful rivers, waterfalls and amazingly colored beaches. The drive is insanely long but road trips are my absolute favorite and the scenery along the way never fails to have a therapeutic and adaptogenic effect.

There are lots of beach houses at Blanchisseuse as there are a few beaches along the coastline it occupies, ranging from lavish villas to your humble and affordable locations all having amazing views that only the north coast of Trinidad can offer. You can see how the coastline spans eastwards from the drone shots above, the most of of being mountains as the north coast is literally formed due to the Caribbean and South American tectonic plates converging there.

When we touched down at Marianne beach, we had been sitting in the car, driving for so long, that it was such a heavenly experience being able to get up and stretch our legs. You can see what the right side of the beach looks like above.

The waves were quite rough today as it had been raining all along and the skies were just beginning to clear up. There were lots of beach houses along the beach itself and less so trees but still there was a good bit of shady coverage.

This is what the left side looked like with more trees and rocks. You can also see more of the rainy weather and how relentless the oceans looked. This sadly meant that bathing here would be impossible and quite dangerous but no worries the amazing scenery and vibes would be enough to enjoy the stay!

In the distance I saw a creature approaching, getting larger as it drew nearer. It was a friendly seadog! She was quite polite and kept me company as I took shots and documented the location. I suspect that she usually sticks around beach goers and benefits from their generosity!

A large solitary island or stack out in the bay peaked my attention and I was quite eager to send up the drone and do some exploring! It was quite far away and I desperately wanted to see what was on it and what it looked up close!

The aerial view reveal amazingly clear waters with mesmerizing colors! The rock itself was much larger and wider than it seemed from on the coastline! There seemed to be what looked like a reef on the ocean bed, I can't be too sure. I the waters weren't so rough, it would be amazing to snorkel and explore what treasures lay beneath those turquoise waves.

You can get a better view of how the beach houses and the main road of Blanchisseuse line the beach. The community is by no means lacking of any modern infrastructure and is well supplied with neatly paved roads and it feels clean and well maintained. Almost as if to be in harmony with the lush forest that it is built within.

By the time I sent up the drone, the skies had cleared up amazingly, almost as if there was no rain at all! This is what the eastern coastline looked like with the almost orange, golden colored sand that complements the blue waters beautifully.

You can see the the Marianne river in the shot above that flows into the beach. I was told that it is not brown but an eye pleasing clear or green but because of the heavy rainfall, it was quite brown today. It is quite large and people usually bathe here when the ocean is rough and most fun of all, they kayak up river where the Blanchissuese bridge is located (covered in the last post).

Heres a better shot of the river mouth from a but farther out in the ocean. You can see a small sliver of the northern range mountains in the background with the ominous clouds cresting and covering some of the peaks. This shot shows some of the best aspects of the Blanchisseuse, lush mountains, beautiful rivers and amazing beaches!

Facing westwards, there is a more comprehensive view of the town with even the large area of flat grass being one of the recreational and sporting grounds. The vibes and serene easy going feeling of the village itself is so healing and I can see why many people are starting to or have been investing in the area's real estate.

Marianne Beach and Blanchisseuse by extension is quite the location with amazing views, lush jungle and so much to offer that has not even been covered in this post but you get the idea! I would quite like to revisit and kayak up river when the waters are not as brown and back to its original form. The drive was long but well worth it and I would not hesisitate to say that if you happen to visit the twin Island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Marianne Beach should be on the list to explore!
