Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada , America.

While in America last year with my wife we decided to take a drive from California where we were staying with my cousin and his wife to Nevada then to Las Vegas but before going to try our good fortune at the casinos in Las Vegas we made a couple of stops along the way and one of our stops was at the Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada which was about 50 miles out from Las Vegas.

Driving along this Interstate Highway 15 all we could see was dry land and huge red rocky mountains left and right it reminded me so much of all them America cowboy movies waiting for them cowboys to ride out of them mountains to car jack us for miles there was nothing insight just acres and acres of these flaming red mountains and dry land but of course it was stunning to see these red and pink rock formations for miles on end.

I could see how it got the name valley of fire on sunny days as it was that day we were driving through along highway interstate 15 it looked like these rock hills were on fire with the sun beaming of them really a spectacular view to see.

We did pullover a couple times just so we could feel and touch these amazing red rocks and to get a closer look we would have loved to take a hike through these red rock hills but we were on a schedule and it was getting late , i certainly would have loved to have camped out there for a night. From a distance some of these red rocks look like a explosion of fire had happen it was just incredible to see.

We could of entered the Valley of Fire State Park at a cost of $10 US per vehicle and driven around the valley admiring all these pink , red and orange sandstone rocks without getting out of our car or if your were in for a bit of a hike you can take the main hiking trails which will take you about 4-5 hours to complete followings some trails within the park and climbing some of them hills to get the best panoramic views of the red rock valley.

But as the day was getting shorter we had to give that a miss we needed to get to Lake Mead before dark so we had to push on as much as we wanted to drive through the valley of fire park anyway we were enjoying the awesome views along the stretch of highway.

We were about 25 miles from Lake Mead National Recreation area and we were going to stay there the night in some small cabins by the lake just to relax enjoy the sunset and the fresh water lake breeze before hitting Las Vegas the next day.

Lake Mead is another beautiful never ending national park with striking landscapes and millions of acres of mountains, canyons and valleys with great hiking trails and the rocks here were also red as fire and the mountains were just as impressive as the valley of fire.

The national park has two huge lakes that are fed by the Hoover Dam which holds all the water from the canyons and valleys which attracts many visitors because of it's clean blue fresh waters enabling you to swim in the lakes or do some fishing relaxing by the lake and enjoying the sunsets or the night skies illuminated by the Milky Way.

And after a beautiful night by the lake the red rocks and purple mountains it was time to move on and enter into the Las Vegas territory to make a fortune or to lose a fortune all fun see you in Vegas 😊
