Thongsonbay Beach in Koh Samui Island.

Some more adventures from our long month vacation on Koh Samui Island , i mention in my last post about touring Koh Samui Island in Thailand we had decided to hire out a little yellow 4WD Suzuki Jeep we figured it was a lot cheaper then Taxis or Tuk Tuk's and we could go where we wanted when we wanted the Jeep was costing us $25 USD per/day which was great value and more fun we could explore some of the island's jungles and hidden beaches at our own pace.

Koh Samui Island in Thailand is not a big island but is a tiny island paradise with loads of beaches, restaurants and things to do the island is only about 15 kilometers wide and about 50 kilometers long you could drive around the whole island in less then then 2 hours we had decided to make it a mission to try and find all those little hidden beaches.

A lot of our driving around the island was just done by trial and error we didn't bother with google map we were just driving into the unknown as properly most of the of dirt tracks we were taking were maybe not even listed on google map anyway we didn't want to be listening to some annoying voice telling us were to go we just did it in our comfort zone and intuition.

On this particular day we left from the resort we were staying which was at Fisherman's Village continuing our journey around the island looking for those hidden beaches after about 30 minutes of driving we noticed a sign Thongsonbay Beach we turned left of the main road and onto this dirt bumper trail this is where the little yellow 4WD jeep was doing us justice after about a 10 minute drive through the coconut jungle and the dirt trail we came to a opening which was Thongsonbay Beach and Resort.

Even though it wasn't a day of blue skies and sunshine we didn't mind the air still had that tropical warmth about it , so we parked our little yellow jeep and had a nice lunch by the beach in the Thongsonbay beach restaurant. Thongsonbay Beach is on the southern side of the island and here it is more suited for holiday packages or individual travels who wish to stay for a month or two or less , it was very much somewhat hidden this little amazing beach and resort and you wouldn't get many annoying visitors coming here.

If we hadn't been booked at the other resort i would not have minded in staying here a couple of nights it just felt absolutely calm and peaceful here with a very quiet atmosphere away from the island’s hustle and bustle and great views across The Gulf of Thailand. The beach was only a small stretch of about 400 meters but it was an amazing white sand beach and not crowded you could even do a bit of snorkeling around the rocks.

We asked about the cost of these little yellow Bungalows spread across the cliff side they were not the most ultramodern rooms but hey at the cost of $25 to $35 USD per/night cheaper for long stay and depending whether it was a Fan or Aircon room it was worth every dollar to have these great views your our private beach in tranquility and a beach restaurant with great food.

Those two and three storey ultramodern houses up on the cliff side with them great views and 5 minute walk to the beach you could own for $300,000 to $400,000 USD and some cheaper here in Australia you would be paying from $5 million to $10 million for location and views like that and you wouldn't have a private beach.

Taking a walk around the cliff side around the beach area up and down the steps along the Bungalows fronts , me been a lover of rock formations couldn't help myself snapping a couple or so shots of these amazing rocks.

Totally satisfied in finding another little secret hidden away beach we spent almost the full day here just exploring , eating and relaxing another beach we will make down on our list of gem beaches in Koh Samui in case we return here some day.
