A few weeks ago before our lockdown again, I visited a friend who lives in Yamba Town, which is about 120 km from my town of Byron Bay heading south on the north coastline, he use to live in Byron Bay about 10 years ago till it got to expensive and over crowded, he is one that loves the laid-back life style and surfing, his not a fan of crowds so he decided to relocate himself to the town of Yamba, a much quieter town like Byron Bay use to be till it got overcrowded and overpriced.
Yamba use to be a sleepy fishing town but today it has a population of just over 6,000 people but still maintains it's strong sense of community and is visited by many Australians because of the friendliness of the town people and it's a perfect holiday destination having five impressive beaches along it's coastline.
While driving and walking around Yamba town, I found it to be quiet a pretty town with natural living and wonderful scenery of landscapes and seascapes the beaches were just superb and the views from mostly every point we looked were spectacular there were many viewpoints and walkways leading you all around Yamba town coastline.
From the five outstanding beaches in Yamba town, been Pippi Beach, Convent Beach, Whiting Beach, Yamba Beach and Spooky beach they all have there purposes you can choose a flat beach with no waves which would be perfect for kids, kayakers or stand up paddleboarders, then you have the beaches specifically for the surfers who love challenging them big waves and you also have the beaches for just that nature walks along the rocks, boulders and shady trees.
People have asked about Spooky beach, why is it called Spooky beach, well actually there is nothing spooky about the beach in the slightest the name came from when an Australian, by the name of Jack Pollard found himself surfing on this beach in 1964 all on his own and found that, this beach was so isolated no one around but himself, hence the name Spooky Beach.
I was kind of a little jealous that my friend was living in this beautiful town of Yamba, it reminded me of when, I first move into Byron Bay a quite not overcrowded town were you could jog, take your walks along the beach and enjoy the sunsets almost to yourself but eventually, it will become another overcrowded and expensive town just like Byron Bay but for now, I enjoyed going back into a little of the pass love this Yamba Town.
