Samrong Beach and Thongson Bay in Koh Samui Island.

Koh Samui Island is the second largest island in Thailand a paradise island that sits on the Gulf of Thailand the island is only 25km in length and 21km wide with a population of about 80,000 people and a easy island to get around, I had the opportunity to visit this island a year or so before this crazy pandemic started, I was on the island for a whole month and travel to almost every part of this island, we hired a little 4WD Suzuki for the whole month we were there costing us $450 US (15,000 Baht) for the month approx $15 US per/day it was certainly better and cheaper then relying on public transport we could go and come as we pleased.

In our time on this amazing island we had made it a mission with my wife and myself to sought out and find as many hidden beaches as possible we did not just want to hang around the most common known beaches that tourist go to, it was not going to be a easy task but it was going to be a fun one taking us to unknown destinations of the beaten track.

The island was reverently easy to get around it was basically one main road called the Ring Road, following this road would take you all around the coastline of Koh Samui Island and if we saw any interesting trails that appealed to us we would just go of road and explore.

On this particular day we ended up at Samrong Beach near Thongson Bay at the very far northern end of Koh Samui Island we had spotted a dirt track and drove down this track as far as it allowed us to then we jump out of our 4WD Suzuki and started hiking down this mountain side not really knowing if this little dirt pathway was going to lead us down to that beach we could see this beach from high up along this edge cliff we were following but we took our chances after all this was the fun part getting of the beaten track right.

The views and the sparkling Gulf of Thailand ocean were breathtaking as we were descending down this mountain side through this forest and shrubs still not knowing if we were going to end up on that white sand beach we could see down below us, it was getting more exciting actually not knowing.

And this was the fun and adrenaline of getting of the beaten track after about one hour of keeping our balance and patience edging our way down this mountain side without falling of the side of the mountain we were rewarded with a beautiful white sandy beach on one side and a rocky beach on the other side it was all worthwhile we sat on this powdery white sand beach just in awe then took a few deep breaths and dived in to these unspoiled blue turquoise waters was the best feeling.

These two beaches Samrong Beach and Thongson Bay Beach were definitely a great combination been side by side after a relaxing afternoon on these beaches it was time to head back up to our little yellow Suzuki we had been talking to a couple of locals and they told us about a easier way back up the mountain hill this was good that we didn't have to fight our way up through that forest shrub again so after one more dip into that clear turquoise water beach and then starting making our way back up the mountain.

Another great day on this paradise island another mission almost completed on our way back up the mountain hill the sunset was starting to happen it could not have been at a better time we were almost to the top of the mountain so a beautiful sunset completed our day and our mission, really love life on days like this just heaven on earth.
