Koh Samui is one of Thailand’s most popular island getaways and i was having a one month vacation on this beautiful white sandy beach island , we were now into our third week of been on this incredible natural surrounding island we had been staying at a resort in Fisherman's Village for the past week and now it was time to move on over to Santikhiri Estate which was situated over the other side of the island up in the mountains. We hung on to our little yellow 4WD Jeep that we were hiring as i am sure we would need this little jeep to get us up and down this mountain and as it turn out to be it was a good thing we did hang on to this little yellow jeep the Santikhiri Estate we were had moved into for a week had very steep roads leading up to our villa.
As we were driving up these hilly roads to our villa there was this beautiful wonderful natural surrounding us we could already feel that we had made a fantastic choice by booking into Santikhiri Estate for a week we could feel the peacefulness and tranquility of this mountain flowing down on us. We were book in Residence 24 which was almost on the highest point of this mountain and the villa was hanging of the mountain side.
After making this steep drive up the mountain and successfully finding Residence 24 we parked our little brave yellow jeep and walked along the very lovely manicured pathway leading to our hidden villa we could not believe what we were seeing this little villa was absolutely gorgeous it was hidden in the tropical jungle of the mountain with a suspended wooden bridge leading to the villa this was more then we were expecting was absolute paradise.
The views from up here were astounding looking down into the green jungle below and across to the ocean views of the Gulf of Thailand this was ideally situated for sunrises and sunsets. The villa looked so welcoming and warm the way it had been built and furnished all in Thai style it was adorable as my wife said , i had already made up my mind i wasn't leaving this hidden paradise.
Santikhiri Estate is actually located in the central part of the southern coast of Koh Samui away from all the high rise buildings and commercial development but yet was only 15-20 minutes drive to Lamai Beach , restaurants and entertainment that one would expect. You could actually buy into the Santikhiri Estate and own one of these beautiful villa's which were all built in there own individual style and all with stunning views they don't come cheap but compared to western prices definitely much cheaper for location like this.
The villas that have been sold at this estate are mainly owned by foreigners from overseas whom don't spent all there time here on the island so they rent them out while there not here it's how we came to renting one out for a week and so glad we came here the Santikhiri Estate is so very well taken care of and maintained and has 24/7 security service , with many facilities and outstanding views from the mountain , i can see why one would want to own a villa here.
We really enjoyed walking around this mountain estate checking out all the other villas each one had it own distinctive qualities and blends with surrounding exotic natural landscapes and natural granite boulders and all villas had views looking out to Samui's offshore islands and long sweeping beaches.
The swimming pool was amazing set in a tranquil sea view garden almost at the highest point of the mountain and along and above the sea view garden was the yoga pavilion if you were into some yoga classes and a little further up the mountain was a clubhouse were you could meet for a drink was definitely a great area to socialize, relax and watch the evening sunsets.
From the pool area there were steps that you could climb which took you up to the top of the Santikhiri Estate mountain which is the highest point of the mountain with the biggest granite peak and from there you could enjoy a panorama view of the forest that covered the hills , coastal palm groves and coconut trees also a great view to be seen looking out to the Gulf of Thailand.
In my opinion this was the perfect place to truly escape the stress of the world and focus on life's simple pleasures whether it was just simply sitting by the pool or the garden listening to the buzz of the cicadas and enjoying the sunsets or the moonlights this was definitely the perfect holiday medicine.
