Trip to the spring of Pucoek Krueng (the head of the river) in Lhoknga, Aceh

The cliff looks like a very solid natural wall. High enough. Karst Landscape. Yeah, it's complete. Sinkhole. Cave. And an underground drainage system. From the direction of the river flowing from the clear spring pool, I was like in front of a mighty natural barrier. It amazed me. It's just so amazing!

It turns out that this is what I have heard so far referred to as Pucoek Krueng, which literally means the head of the river. That is, if the river mouth is the lowest part of the river, then the headwaters are the highest point where the river flows upstream, and this can be said to be the true upstream.

It is located in Lhoknga district, a district in the Aceh Besar region, west of Banda Aceh. Let me share with you my experience, hoping that you have fun with this tropical stuff.

On the road

The past few days, the rain in my area, seems to regularly pick up the late afternoon hours. It started to form a gray cloud from noon, and it rained vigorously in the afternoon. So, I guess I'll find time for the trip by starting at least before noon. The weather at that time was sunny, even tended to be hot. We will go to the end of the hillside shown in these pictures. There is a pass where we will climb a not-so-high incline between the hills to cross the hillside and find the western area of Banda Aceh. From there then we head to the destination. To get to the pass between the hills, I prefer the village road because it will save time and avoid possible congestion.

After the distance traveled is more than 25 kilometers, we finally arrive at the foot of the hill which will take us to the pass between the hills to cross to the western area of Banda Aceh. The road to the pass was rarely crossed, but I didn't expect to find them relaxing on the road.

Several times we stopped on this road to see the view of the valley and the surroundings. Had it been dry season, I would naturally have spent more time here observing insects, animals, plants and rocks. But that is impossible for me to do right now because I am racing against the rain cloud.

We arrive at the first village of Lhoknga district which is located in the middle of a tropical rain forest.

After passing the pass and leaving the mountainous and hilly area.

Less than half an hour later, I arrived at the area where the destination was. A cafe near the river, which heads up to where I'm going.

Then, the village road leads to Pucoek Krueng.

And this is it. We've arrived! It looks like a natural gateway to a destination.

At the destination

After resting for a while, I started going around to enjoy and visualize the various natural offerings here: clear spring pools, streams that seem to be closely guarded by forest trees, flowers, trees, dragonflies, mushrooms, and yeah .. the most powerful one, the cliff with niches and vegetation decorating it.

Everything is enough to revive awareness, how amazing nature is. That absolute needs to be preserved as the message on this board.
