I am taking you to continue exploring Scottish National Gallery. This time you will see more paintings by Scottish painters who miraculously showed Scottish nature in their paintings. First of all, monumental mountains and beautiful lakes (probably everyone has heard about the famous Scottish Loch Ness lake, and this is one of the many lakes in the northern region of Great Britain. Below you can see the first painting in this series, entitled "Wandering Shadows". It was painted by the famous Scottish painter Peter Graham.
Graham's observations of fleeting effects in nature provided the basis for his painting. He captured the transient character of clouds as they float around the mountain tops and descend into the valleys, and recorded their wandering shadows across the slopes. The sense of movement and constant change is echoed in the mountain stream flowing down to the gushing river. One knows too that the presence of the fisherman and sheep, which emphasises the vastness of the rocky terrain, is also temporary. On moving to London, Graham produced series of grand paintings like this, particularly appealing to an urban-based audience.

This time you can see the wonderful painting entitled "Music of the Forest" by Edward Atkinson Hornel.
Hornel has created here a memorable image of delight in the pleasures of nature. The girls are surrounded by an abundance of colourful flowers as they nestle on the forest floor. The thickly applied paint provides a rich, lively texture which catches the light.

Next to the painting was a museum employee whose pants had a traditional pattern - Scottish tartan.

And this is a painting by Sir William Quiller Orchardson entitled "Master child". I really liked the moment of a nice closeness between a child and his mother, illustrated in the picture, who entertains them with a fan.
Orchardson was an outstanding narrative painter, who deftly used body language and expression, as well as descriptive detail, to communicate feelings and mood.

At first glance, the scene depicted in the picture reminds me of courtship, but it may well be an ordinary conversation of people of the opposite sex ... What do you think? In any case, the scenery is interesting and the cabbage has some cool, colorful shades.
