Not actually a lake, it was at one time an open pit coal mine, producing anthracite coal, one of the most valuable and wanted types of coal.

This pit was closed in 1974.

The reclamation was given to Gerry Stephenson who....

allowing the quarry to fill with water from an underground spring, he created an ideal fish habitat.

Today, people can fish here for Arctic Grayling or Rainbow Trout, as well as it being an ideal spot for....

swimming. There are also picnic tables, benches, and a well maintained pathway around ....

the lake.

Just outside town a car is need to access it, but there is also a leash free park for dogs, washrooms, and many connecting trails if you want to take a long hike, or gravel bike ride or even mountain bike trails.

Paid parking has just been implemented, and is a bit of a sore spot with many, but it is worth....

the price to see an outstanding recreational area.
