Carcross Desert
We drove up the Alaska Highway this Summer and toured around the Yukon.
An interesting area was this desert. It is not technically a desert, but are actually sand dunes, that were left behind from.....
from the last glacial period. The area receives little precipitation, due to the surrounding mountains, but too much to be considered a desert.
The area is used by the locals and tourists for atving, sandboarding and skydiving.
It is an interesting area seeing a coniferous forest surrounded by sand and being so far North.
