Breuil-Cervinia
This charming little town located in Northern Italy, near the Swiss border was the location for a mountain biking holiday.
In Winter skiing is the primary tourist activity, and in Summer, it is low season....
Monte Cervinio, or Matterhorn
thus making it very economical for a visit.
Although in July when we were there a few people were boarding the gondola for the glacier Plateau Rosa, with their ski gear and we saw them skiing, so it is possible to ski year round.

easy to find, and the sport is growing in popularity.
The hiking was exceptional, with stunning views everywhere you looked. Gondolas travel all over the area, and we ended up in Switzerland one day. Spectacular waterfalls, and streams are everywhere.
The town didn't really exist until the 1850's. It was mostly shepherds living in huts during the Summer months. As mountaineering, hiking, skiing have all begun to grow in popularity....

Originally called Breuil, the name was changed during in 1939 when the fascist government started to Italianize town names. Today it is known as Breuil-Cervinia.
It was a wonderful town to visit, the hotel provided excellent authentic Italian meals....

Not easy to get to, a bus is possible but a long journey. A car is by far the best way to travel the long winding road through the mountains to reach the.....
town which is literally at the end of the road. You can not drive any further.
