When I found out that there's this new place in the island that is gaining popularity among social media sites, I immediately decided that we would go there for Matti's 9th-month pictorial session. It was a quick decision and the family was supportive enough to come along with us.

About Benliw Dam

The construction of this dam started in the year 2017, its budget was 595,000,000 pesos under the Duterte Administration. The primary use of this dam was for irrigation surrounding the town of Benliw and the neighboring areas. This as per the Cabinet Secretary would help farmer's average harvest.

But aside from that, this dam also showcases a unique view which could boost the tourism of the said town. I knew there are many dams in this town but there's just something about Benliw Dam's breathtaking view.

How to Get To Benliw Dam

From Tagbilaran City, there are two roads that could lead to the town of Ubay, either take the main highway of Ubay or use the Mabini route which is seven minutes faster to get there.

It is best to travel here with a private vehicle as it is not located near the highway, if you commute, there are bus schedules from Tagbilaran and there are motorcycles as well that can take you after reaching the Benliw Barangay.

Entrance Fees

We were surprised we were not asked for any fees when we arrived there. There were other visitors as well in the area who had checked the far end of the dam, however, went to look for the spot which could be perfect for the pictorial.

According to the locals, they should be asking but then the assigned member was not there. Also, it rained really hard that the officials might have just forgotten about it.

The View

Again, this dam offers a wonderful view of the Ubay hills and it looks nice because of the contrast between the green mountain or hills and the royal bluish color of the water.

There are residents that use boats to get to the other side, this adds aesthetic to the place as well!

Sunset view here would be perfect too! I wonder if it also offers a view of the sunrise. I bet it would also be wonderful!

The Pictorial

It rained when we arrived so we had to wait for the rain to stop before we could set up our pictorial session, this was a DIY one.

We dressed Matti in the car while waiting for the rain to stop. When it stopped, we immediately did the pictorial as we were already running out of time.

Still, I was thankful that Matti was very cooperative with the pictorial.

Since my family was with us, we also took time to take some photographs of them:

Conclusion

Coming to Benliw Dam was worth it and if it didn't rain, we might have time to get to the other side of the dam, to its actual dam but nonetheless, we were happy to see the beautiful and perfect landscape of Banliw Dam!

I highly recommend visiting the place! Some may even tent here so I hope we can do camping as a family also.

Thanks a lot for reading!
