MY BEAUTIFUL MAMA🌼
She blends in.🌸🌺

This trip was taken last November 15, 2020 and it was when there was no longer ECQ and the local trips are allowed, provided that we still follow the health protocols and guidelines, of course. My Mama was excited about this trip because, for the longest time, she has just been inside our house. We didn't allow her to do groceries even, so basically, she was stuck in the house from March 2020 until November 2020. When my sister Rica invited us for this trip, my Mama and I immediately said "YES" because it would be a great stress reliever to go out of the house ("the anywhere but here" caption) HAHA.

Our ever-beautiful Mama, who despite having given birth eight times, is still gorgeous as ever and strong and courageous enough to be there for us even when we are already old enough to stand on our own. πŸŒ»πŸŒΌπŸŒΈπŸŒΊπŸ’œ

Sometimes I wonder how this beautiful woman has managed to raise eight children with different personalities. And she has kept all of us united as a family. πŸ’™

I know, I know. My Mama is more beautiful than the flowers surrounding her.

Our Mom is a pillar of strength and kindness. Also: She is the most generous soul in our neighbourhood! Try asking our neighbors so that you'd know *winks, winks 😘

I told her she has to pose at the sign that says "Buwakan ni Alejandra" and even though it was a hot day, Mama was still able to smile for the camera. Yay!😘😍

"I want to be like my Mama when I grow up. She has this superhuman strength. The way she carries way too much worries on her shoulders just for us. And even if she's tired of it all, she never gives us. I always admire her strength and patience and persistence." -Excerpt from the poem I made her on her 60th Birthday😘

"I wish I can travel back in time, to those times when my mother cried and was likely to give up, so that I can cheer her up and tell her that it's okay to pause and spoil yourself and for a moment just think of yourself, please. You've done way too much for us already. It's okay to think of yourself, too. You deserve it. You deserve it more than anything else.🌼" -Excerpt from the poem I made her on her 60th Birthday😘 (I will post that whole poem soon in October on my Mama's birthday hehe)

Solo photos and my random thoughts.

"Nature is the home of miracles. Complex growth, stories of resilience, ephemeral beauty emerging and evaporating. But we take the time to stop and look. Each one of these gifts reminds us to PAY ATTENTION to the FLEETING BEAUTY of our OWN LIVES." --Wabi Sabi by Beth Kempton

When I read these lines from Kempton's book, I immediately had to stop and take a close look at how I tend to pay attention to "how fleeting" my own life is. As the book had discussed, human lives are comparable to nature's seasons-- spring is youth, summer is middle age, autumn is old age and winter is death. It made me realize that as the leaves fall from the trees and trees eventually wither, so do human beings. However, the withering of the trees and flowers in no way lessens their innate beauty--just like the lives of humans. Our lives are beautiful, if we just take a closer look, we will realize how much of miracles are our very lives (example: we can die anytime but NO here we are still, much ALIVE and we have air in our lungs~!). πŸ’›

"The past is no longer here. Whatever happened--the good and the bad--it is gone. Whatever it is that is pulling you back, take a moment to make peace with it and LET IT GO. It can be hard but it is simple as deciding to do it." -Beth Kempton

Nature around us reminds us time and again that the past can be beautiful--once the trees and flowers die, after a few months, new buds will rise and life will once again spring forth. The past is necessary for the present and the future, too. Much is the same for us human beings. ✨

The past--everything that has happened and done and over with, all the good and the bad--can be gracefully accepted so that we can move on and flow with the tide of life. I know, this is much easier said than done (the same with "exercise more so we can live longer" but we can hardly get our butts off our couch lol).

I have learned that we have to wrap our heads around the fact that the past can be forgiven so it can be forgotten. Many of us have experiences in our past that we never want to revisit or relive because they may be "too hurting and too much" to bear. But this is "what is pulling us back". We can never expect to be fully joyful in our present if we never accepted and made peace with our past.

"Things change. That is life. Change is inevitable. Trying to hold on to the past or the present is pointless and stressful."-Kempton

My own take on the lines above:

As nature around us constantly changes, how come, we as humans, want "everything to stay the same"? Have you ever felt that? For example, when something is good, let's say a relationship is good, you pray that "it will never change". The same with people, "good people"" for that matter. We tell people, "Hey, don't change okay, you're really good, keep it up."

Isn't it ironic that the very people who constantly say "change is the only permanent thing there is" are the very generation who are afraid of change and want for everything to stay the same--just the way it is?

We have to hold everything that we "own" with an open hand. Never hold it too strongly, nothing was ours in the first place. Our very lives are borrowed and to expect anything constant in a world of impermanence is a key to a very unhappy and tiresome life. Learn to let go and surrender to the tides of life. Start from acknowledging that everything we have and hold dear is never ours, so that, when something is taken from us, we do not get shattered by loss-- because we know that we are mere "borrowers" of our lives. Nothing was and is will be ours. We are sojourners of the Earth, and just like the generation who came before us, our time will also come, when the grounds of the Earth calls us back home where we came from.
