Every time I visit an old house, I feel as if I have returned to the past and I like to stay there for a while.
In my previous post I wrote about my walk in a place called Grocka on the outskirts of Belgrade in Serbia. While we were there, the road took us to an old street and a house that was a real discovery for us.
We started up the cobbled narrow street. When we climbed the hill, we saw the Danube from above between the houses. It is a very beautiful and peaceful place, close to the capital, near and yet far.
We saw the gate and opened it.
We never dreamed that we would see such a beautiful house and yard inside. It is the cultural center of the village of Grocka, the former house of the Rancic family.
This house was built at the end of the 18th century. The yard is very well maintained and in the summer, events, concerts, gatherings, workshops and open exhibitions are held there.
The house is on the ground floor and has two terraces for rest and it also has a basement.
We also saw a lot of interesting sculptures in the courtyard.
When we got inside, we saw that an exhibition of a painter from Serbia was being held and that all the rooms had been turned into a gallery.
We looked at the pictures. They were very interesting. Like for example the "Flow of time".
I particularly liked the picture of the Rancic house.
The interior is very pleasant. There is a piano.
Old light.
Colored pebbles that inspired me to make such decorations at home.
In the end, my children chose souvenirs that will remind us of this beautiful place that we discovered and didn't know existed.
Thank you very much for reading.
The images and writing are original and mine.
Greetings!
Jelena
