Hello itinerants all over the world and hive community! We have finally come to the second part of my Singapore travel blog. I just recently posted the first part that was the day before yesterday. In these articles, I will be only featuring the places that you may wanna visit if you happen to visit the country. As I have been receiving requests to make a full itinerary of my trip, I decided to make it in the next few days. But for now, let's try to explore the lion city more. As a tourist, I was really amazed by Singapore with so many things. From their transportation system, market, architecture and of course incredible man made tourist attractions. People may think Singapore as a concrete jungle for being as one of the central trade points in Asia. But if I were to define Singapore, this could be a "City in the Garden" that is rich in History and Heritage.
It is truly a place for people who are passionate about exploring places, nature trips, backpackers, hikers, sightseers and history buffs. As a backpacker, I can personally say that Singapore is kind an overpriced country. Obviously because their currency is a dollar peg and due to the fact that they really lack in natural resources wherein they normally import products and resources from other countries. In my opinion, this is not a perfect place for backpackers to stay in a longer period. And now, Let's get going to know Singapore more!
WHAT TO DO IN SINGAPORE?
1.) Gardens by the Bay
The Garden lies within the central part of Singapore. It's basically a huge nature park with three waterfront gardens namely the Bay South Garden, Bay East Garden and the Bay Central Garden. What's best about this place is, it is completely for free. Indeed it's a futuristic park with impressive sky walks over a garden and huge super trees being scattered in the place. It's best to visit the place at night. For these super trees light up with so many vibrant colors which makes the place so enchanting.
2.) The Marina Bay Sands
It is said to be the most luxurious and spectacular hotel in Singapore. As I was travel on a budget, I didn't get to to the rooftop of the hotel wherein there's an infinity pool with a breathtaking view of the city. It's just few minutes away from the Gardens by the Bay. It's one of the most iconic tourist attractions in the country. You haven't been here if you haven't at least taken a photo of this famous casino hotel. But who knows, I might be coming back here and book a room and try everything it may offer someday, in God's grace.
3.) Chinatown Singapore
If you are looking for unique and affordable souvenirs from Chinese cultural elements, this is the best place for you. The place offers an array of souvenir items from food to figurines and other fantastic shopping opportunities. It's a place in Singapore which is very diverse. Many nationalities have been occupying the place nowadays, mainly Asians and Indian. It is also just walking distant from other major tourist attractions in the area. Despite of being one of the most populated place in the country, I am just amazed by organize and neat the place is.
4.) People's Park
The People's park is a commercial building located in Eu Tong Sen street in Outram. It's basically a mixture of commercial, office spaces and shopping centers. Most people buy souvenirs in here. If you are looking for affordable Chinese food and snacks, you may wanna visit the place.
5.) Trying out the double-deck buses in Singapore
There's no better way to explore Singapore but through these double-deck buses. You may go sightseeing in your own pace by just availing their hop on and hop off bus tours. It will bring you to places where it routes and brings you back to your drop off point. It's definitely a must try in Singapore. You may just purchase and EZ-Link card which gives you an access to their MRTs and Buses.
6.) The Cloud Forest
One of the unique and most visited man made attractions in Singapore is the Cloud forest. Living or staying in a country which is being surrounded by huge buildings and the weather which is almost sunny day everyday, you really deserve to treat your senses with a fresh and cool ambiance only at the conservatory Cloud Forest. It's a man-made mountain with staircases and a unique waterfalls in it. It's actually just inside the Gardens by the Bay. You need to purchase a ticket before entering the forest.
Also just a pro-tip, I highly recommend that you book the tickets of your activities at klook.ph so that you can save money. They offer discounts and tremendous sales on announced dates. Most of my activities in Singapore actually come from klook.ph.
7.) The Flower Dome
The Flower Dome is another conservatory complex in Singapore. It's a huge air-conditioned garden with variety of plants and flowers. It is said to be the biggest air-conditioned greenhouse. If you are into flowers and exotics plants, this could be the perfect place for you. It's actually just on the other side of the Cloud Forest with separate tickets. I didn't stay that long in here because I felt so cold and I had to head to my hostel earlier and prepare for my departure going back to the Philippines.
I have learned so many things on my trip as it was my first solo backpacking trip out of the country. I met wonderful people who helped me took these amazing photos and guided me with directions. I witnessed how organize the country Singapore is from their transportation to their strict policies maintaining the cleanliness of the country. I definitely will go back to Singapore again someday.
