In January 2019, I was visiting and vacation in the arabica coffee plantation in the Village of Sialaman, Sipirok located in the South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra Province of Indonesia. To go to the location, some alternative options can be traversed, of the Terrain we could use the plane to Sibolga (Nut Afternoon Airport) and followed by a 3-hour journey by car.

If we use the land route from the City of Medan for 8 hours, we can enjoy the beautiful scenery on the trip because up to Sipirok we will pass through many forests, and also passed the largest lake in Southeast Asia, namely Lake Toba.

There is a unique occurrence that is not possible I forget the time in travel. At that time, our car is in the back of a car the old with the body of the car already rusted and the glass behind him broke. Suddenly, a monkey was sitting in the mirror behind an old car is. You certainly will not find a wild monkey in the city, right? what more of a monkey sitting in the back of the car. This incident is very funny.

I can see the fields that exist around the coffee plantations, the view is very beautiful. Rice planted in the fields is still green and very in tune with lush trees in the vicinity.

I also see some of the coffee plantations that are not well cared for. There is a coffee plantation that the surrounding land is filled with grass-like never visited by man, and I see also some of the coffee plantations that have the quality of the crop that bad. But not this plantation, that we want to visit because I just happened to be passing.

Harvesting Coffee Tree

There are the coffee plantations that I go to. The coffee plantation is owned by a farmer named Mr. Simanjuntak. When we arrived, the coffee fruit is already starting to pop up in every tree. For a coffeeholic, every fruit that sticks in the fork of the coffee later will arrive in every dish your coffee.

You can see, the coffee fruit that will be harvested red and green fruit is still immature. To get a taste of the best coffee, the farmers will only harvest the ripe coffee cherries. Here, the responsibility of the farmer is very large to make sure and keep the quality of their coffee. I and some people who come into the garden's coffee simanjuntak come to try the process of harvesting.

The temperature in the Village Sialaman ranges between 23 - 24 C. This temperature is ideal for the growth of Arabica coffee. The trees an average age of 8-10 years. Some variants of the coffee plants are here like Andung Sari, Sigararutang, and Ateng Super.

The atmosphere around the coffee plantation is very quiet and natural. According to the coffee farmers that manage these plantations, sometimes in a particular season, there's a tiger down to the plantation because the village sialaman is directly adjacent to the natural rainforests. There is a belief in local if the tiger appeared in the village or the garden means that there bad deeds that happened in the village, and the arrival of the tiger as a form of reprimand.

For a coffeholic a visit to the coffee plantation is like a spiritual journey. Every coffee we drink whether it's an espresso, macchiato, latte, cappuccino, coffee milk, or whatever it is, the basic material of plantati coffee. What do you guys think ? a visit to the coffee plantation is interesting, isn't it ?
