Obo-ob Mangrove Eco-Park

Obo-ob Mangrove Eco-Park is located in the Municipality of Bantayan and it is 20 minutes away from the GuestHouse we stay in (Juanitas Homestay). This is the first tourist spot we explore when we visited Bantayan island with my travel buddies last June 12, 2021.

We ride a Tricycle going to the Eco-Park. This becomes our transportation service for our whole escapade on the island. The fare of Transportation? sorry but I don't know πŸ˜…, since the service vehicle for our exploration is part of our Tour Package. Along the way to Eco-park, you will see some perennial plants like Bamboo and Coconut Palm Trees. Seeing this makes us relax and excited to see what the Mangrove Eco-park is to offer.

It's almost lunchtime when we arrive at Mangrove Eco-Park, we are a little bit hungry at that time so we decided to find a place to take our lunch. And it is so perfect that inside the Eco-park there is a Restaurant that serves food for the Travelers. (due hungriness we didn't take pictures of our food πŸ˜…, anyway the important is we are full again πŸ˜… ).

Upon arriving we take first some pictures in the entrance and look for Instagramable Views. During picture taking, I saw a word that is not familiar. The "OMAGIECA", I Wonder what it means. Only to find out, OMAGIECA is an acronym word for ( *Obo-ob Mangrove Garden Integrated Ecotourism and Conservation Association *). As I learned, they are the association that developed and maintain the Mangrove Eco-park. They aim to provide environmental awareness to all Tourists/ Travelers on how important taking care of our Mangrove Forest, not just to balance the ecosystem but also to provide sanctuary to all marine life around the area.

The entrance fee of Mangrove Eco-Park is only 50 Pesos, you may explore the area through Kayaking for only 150 Pesos or through Walking to the walkway that is made of bamboo slats. We choose to explore the place via Bamboo Walkway. We found it is better compared to Kayaking to save time.

Walking through the Mangrove forest was refreshing you will hear the sound of the birds and the breeze of the Ocean beside the Forest. The temperature under the Mangrove forest is a little bit cooler compared to the Town area.

We found this known signage "CAMP SAWI" which is featured in a Filipino ROM-COM movie that is done here on Bantayan Island. This signage is originally located in Kota Beach in Sta. Fe Bantayan. But there is also part of the movie that is made inside this Mangrove Eco-Park.

Inside the forest, there are cottages for you to rest in just in case you feel exhausted. There is also a Bamboo Tower around 8 feet Tall where you can see the overview of the area. Sad we don't go up to the top of the tower for the reason that there is a lot of tourists in the area at that time. We just escape that point of the tower to avoid the crowds and also to save time.

Moving forward to the next area is beside the Bay. Where you can see the beautiful Ocean of Bantayan Island. It is one of my best points of the Forest. The view of the ocean under the Mangrove trees is amazing and relaxing.

The bamboo walkway is a loop where you will stroll around the Mangrove Forest. it's a little bit long but a relaxing place. It takes us 45 minutes to finish strolling the Forest.

We just have fun roaming around and we are all amazed at how they put up this idea. This kind of tourist destination is relevant to everyone not only to the tourist. It is a kind of place that teaches us how important the Mangrove is. And a kind of place that reminds us, Humans, of our responsibility as part of nature.
