In this article, I would like to tell you about Izmir Smyrna Agora.

Geçen günlerde size İzmir seyahatimden bahsetmiştim.
Bu yazımda ise size İzmir Smyrna Agorasından bahsetmek istiyorum.
Located in the Kordon district of Izmir, this place opens the doors of history to us.
I have never seen an agora so close to the city center before.
That's why I can say that I explored every corner of it with curiosity.
İzmir’in Kordon ilçesinde bulunan bu yer bize tarihin kapılarını aralıyor.
Daha önce şehir merkezine bu kadar yakın bir agora görmemiştim.
O yüzden her köşesini merakla keşfettim diyebilirim.
After coming to Kordon district from the bus station, I walked along the coast and followed the signs to reach here.
I walked for a long time through a famous bazaar to come here.
Otogardan Kordon ilçesine geldikten sonra sahil boyu yürüyüp tabelaları takip ederek buraya vardım.
Buraya gelmek için ünlü bir çarşının içerisinden uzun bir süre yürüdüm.
Thanks to the signs in the bazaar, I could easily find my direction.
All tradesmen in this bazaar already know the location of the agora.
Once I asked which side he was on for control purposes, they helped me directly.
Çarşının içerisinde bulunan tabelalar sayesinde kolaylıkla yönümü buldum.
Zaten bu çarşının içerisinde tüm esnaflar agoranın yerini biliyor.
Bir defasında kontrol amaçlı ne tarafta bulunduğunu sorduğumu direk bana yardımcı oldular.
And as a result, a corner of the historical building showed itself.

When I saw that the entrance was from the back, I bought a things from the market on the corner and continued.
Ve sonuç olarak tarihi yapının bir köşesi kendini gösterdi.

Girişin arkadan yapıldığını görünce köşede yer alan marketten içecek alıp devam ettim.
The museum card is valid here, so I entered for free.
For those who do not have a museum card, a fee of 100 TL is required.
Burada müze kart geçerli o yüzden ben ücretsiz bir şekilde giriş yaptım.
Müze kartı olmayanlar için ise 100 TL gibi bir ücret isteniyormuş.
When I first entered here, a beautiful landscaping caught my eye.
I rested for a short time in the sitting areas placed under the trees.
Buraya ilk girişte güzel bir çevre düzenlemesi gözüme çarptı.
Ağaç altlarına yerleştirilmiş oturma alanlarında kısa bir süre dinlendim.

Ardından merdivenli bir kısımdan aşağı inerek tarihi yapının içerisine girdim.

I was very impressed with the atmosphere of this ancient place.

Bu antik mekânın atmosferinden çok etkilendim.
This place was used as a commercial and social life area at the time.
I think the water channels in it are the biggest proof of this.
Bu yer, zamanında ticaret ve sosyal yaşam alanı olarak kullanılmış.
İçerisinde yer alan su kanalları bence bunun en büyük kanıtıdır.
I think this ancient site is a very important place that bears the traces of the past.
I was very happy to see that a group of foreigners, besides me, made a discovery here.
I even took this opportunity and had a photo taken with their help.
Bu antik alan bence geçmişin izlerini taşıyan çok önemli bir yer.
Benim dışımda yabancı bir grubunda burada keşif yaptığını görünce çok sevindim.
Hatta bunu fırsat bilip bir fotoğrafımı çektirdim.
This fountain, located in a separate compartment right next to it, caught my attention.
It was especially noted that water cannot be drunk here.
Hemen yan tarafta ayrı bir bölmede yer alan bu çeşme dikkatimi çekti.
Buradan su içilemediği özellikle not düşülmüştü.
In another section, there is a gallery of graffiti and pictures.
Although the door of this place is kept locked, I cannot find the opportunity to examine it closely, but I get information from the board in front of it.
Yine başka bir bölümde duvar yazı ve resimleri galerisi yer alıyor.

Finally, I went up a ladder and found myself in a huge garden.
Here, larger structures welcomed me.
At the same time, other archaeological remains were exhibited here.
Son olarak yukarıya doğru bir merdivenden çıktım ve kendimi kocaman bir bahçede buldum.
Burada beni daha büyük yapılar karşıladı.
Aynı zamanda diğer arkeolojik kalıntılarda burada sergilenmişti.

Finally, I would like to share with you the Faustina door, which is an important building.
This gate was located at the point where the street coming from the port reaches the Agora.
It takes its name from the portrait just above it.
This portrait belonged to the empress Faustina.
Son olarak sizinle önemli bir yapı olan Faustina kapısını paylaşmak istiyorum.
Bu kapı, limandan gelen caddenin Agora’ya ulaştığı noktada yer alıyormuş.
İsmini de hemen üst kısmında yer alan portreden almaktadır.
Bu portre, imparatoriçe Faustina’ya aitmiş.
Exploring this ancient place was a nice experience for me.
