Fort Batterie the Zuydcoote!

This is Fort Batterie the Zuydcoote and it was build at the end of the 19th century by the France army! It is located in the dunes of Dunkirk, a city in the northern part of France at the boarder of Belgium! They made the construction out of yellow bricks so they not stand out in the yellow sand dunes! There where 4 big canons at 20cm and many 93mm gun platforms pointing out to the North Sea and a couple out to the east inland!

In the second world war the Germans took it over and have expanded it with various concrete constructions to protect them from an invasion from England. Because this was the shortest route over the English canal, the Germans thought they could expect an invasion here!
