U Sathorn
U Sathorn is a luxury hotel in central Bangkok. To be honest while driving towards it, you might think you are lost or definitely on the wrong way, because none of the streets leading to it scream 'luxury' at all. Regardless of that though, once you reach the parking lot and get to the loby, you know you arrived somewhere special.
The lobby is opened towards the garden and pool area. With Covid all hotels were closed for a long while and the ones in Bangkok were empty even after the closing period was over. During the weekends some locals would stay at the luxury hotels because prices were so cheap, they just wanted to take advantage of that situation. On weekdays though - like the one we visited on - there were barely any visitors. They were running this promotion for staying at the hotel with your own room for a whole day and check out in the early evening. In the package they were offering their signature afternoon Tea near the poolside area.
The room was pretty big with a balcony revealing a great view towards the pool and garden. Everything was perfect to the last detail, with the greetings birthday cake when we arrived (Nat always manages to organize these things and surprise me - she's the best!).
The hotel consisted of 4 buildings surrounding this big garden with a pool in the middle of it. 3 of the buildings are filled with guest rooms and the main one is where the lobby, restaurant and bar are.
We spent the most time at the pool. It was cloudy for a long while when we arrived but after we finished our lunch the sun popped up and it was perfect for some afternoon water fun.
This was our 'little' afternoon Tea. We had it over lunch and since Nat is not one to eat much, I had the heavy duty of finishing most of it. It looks little on the photo but it is quite filling and plenty enough for two. It was pretty nice and exclusive, because there was noone else in the whole area but us at the time.
After we finished eating it was time to change and chill around the pool until late afternoon.
There were no other people at the pool the whole day. Think there were two girls that joined way way on the other side from where we were, but they never even entered the water. Felt like having a 5 star hotel all to ourselves and for cheap to top that off.
