Valladolid, Spain: cobbled streets and natural surroundings

Hello people and pinmapplers!

We quickly discovered a historic city in the interior of Spain, in a very short trip but in which we were able to see and enjoy part of the essence of this Castilian city, Valladolid.

It is located in the heart of the Castilla-León region where kings, heroes and writers that we study in history books came from. Today it is a quiet and elegant city, where life is simple.
Its streets are the streets of a city that contains centuries of history but with a certain renewed air, a classic style that stands out in the Town Hall Square, in the center and in its surrounding streets. Typical streets of the past, when they were narrow and had thick stone walls, as well as the pavement itself, at every step, the cobbled streets that lead us to churches and more interesting places.

Walking through the center we discover more, until we reach a curious area, where there is a peculiar building, it is residential, they are currently people's apartments but in a semicircular shape and overlook a small patio or interior park. Where the vegetation and the soft sunlight that illuminates the balconies make the atmosphere very pleasant.

The most curious thing is when they talk to us about going to the beach, how? We are many kilometers from the sea, there cannot be a beach, but there is on the bank of the river that runs through the city. The famous Pisuerga River, also well known for some popular phrases. We get closer and it is true that people enjoy good days lying on the Pisuerga beach, as if it were a beach anywhere, even with beach lifeguards! But with a difference: as it is also a natural area of the river, there are animals, so bathers in the sand are accompanied by geese that walk relaxed among the people.

It's time to eat, and we leave the most visited area to go outside the city, to a more rural and less urban area where there is a spectacular typical place and we try the strong, intense and tasty Castilian food.

We move further towards the cultivated lands of the region, where the vines stand out and therefore very good wine harvests, and the large fields of sunflowers that we like to look at in the car as children. But also years later when we are adults. 😊🌻

We can go to a quiet area and walk among such beautiful and large flowers, feeling almost immersed in a yellow tide that gives light and energy to such an evocative place. And suddenly it seems that we are lost in time, without direction or direction, but when we say goodbye to the sunflowers we will continue on our way, perhaps to a new destination...
