Hi there, how do you do today?
I'm sure due to the impact of the Covid pandemic, you have also seen a lot of changes, right? One of the most noticeable changes is probably the emptiness of tourist attractions. Today I want to write about such a place.
Hoi An Ancient Town
is an old small town that appeared at the end of the 16th century. It is located along the legendary Hoai River in Quang Nam province, Vietnam. Thanks to favorable geographical and climatic factors, Hoi An was once a busy international trading port, and it was used to be a meeting place for Japanese and Chinese merchant ships. That has created the diversity and uniqueness of the culture, architecture and cuisine of this place. And to this day, it is also a favorite destination of not only domestic but also international tourists.
On normal days before, Hoi An was always crowded with many bustling tourist and trading activities. To avoid traffic congestion, motorbikes and cars are not allowed to enter the old town area, only pedestrians and bicycles can enter. Even on full moon days, walking becomes difficult as it becomes packed with people.
But in this visit of mine, everything has completely changed. Streets full of people were replaced by empty streets, attractions became deserted. Even about 90% of stores closed. Many places have signs for sale or rent. The pandemic has changed this place completely.
Even so, it also brings here another beauty, a beauty of peace. Before, I never thought I could take pictures of the streets here without people in them. Although a bit sad for the tourism industry here, but I really like and enjoy this peace. Soon, everything will return to normal, and this place will return to its heyday.
