Yes, it is an architectural and emblematic work of the city of Buenos Aires. Inaugurated in December 2001 and designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, this being his first work in Latin America.
Pues si, se trata de una obra arquitectónica y emblemática de la ciudad de Buenos Aires. Inaugurada en diciembre del año 2001 y diseñada por el arquitecto español Santiago Calatrava, siendo ésta su primera obra en América Latina.

Today I am visiting the area of Puerto Madero and I could not miss the Puente de la Mujer and admire this work. Despite having been in Buenos Aires for 5 years, every time I walk here it is inevitable to be impressed by the view.
So I decided to take a series of photos about this icon and tell you a little about it, its history, its representation, its authors, among other things.
Hoy estoy visitando la zona de Puerto Madero y no pude pasar por alto acercarme al Puente de la Mujer y admirar ésta obra. A pesar de tener 5 años en Buenos Aires cada vez que camino por acá es inevitable quedarse impactado por la vista.
Así que decidí tomar una serie de fotos sobre éste icono y contarles un poco de que se trata, su historia, su representación, sus autores, entre otras cosas.

This work, according to its creator, evokes the spirit of "a couple dancing tango", where the mast represents the man holding by means of strings the curvature of the bridge which represents the woman.
Interesting, isn't it?
Ésta obra, según su propio creador evoca el espíritu de "una pareja bailando tango", dónde el mástil representa al hombre sosteniendo mediante cuerdas la curvatura del puente la cual representa a la mujer.

It is an urban icon that was manufactured in Spain by the company URSSA and then transported in parts to be erected in one year.
It measures 170 meters long and 6.18 meters wide and rotates 90 degrees on its axis allowing the passage of boats.
Es un ícono urbano que fue fabricado en España por la empresa URSSA y luego fue transportado por partes para ser levantado en un año. Mide 170 metros de longitud y 6,18 metros de ancho y gira 90 grados sobre su eje permitiendo así el paso de embarcaciones.
It is located in Puerto Madero's Dike 3, more specifically between Pierina Dealessi and Manuela Gorriti Streets.
It is clearly a beautiful tribute that highlights women's work within society, with a cost of 6 million dollars that were donated by the businessman Alberto Gonzalez.
Se encuentra ubicado en el dique 3 de Puerto Madero más específicamente entre las calles Pierina Dealessi y Manuela Gorriti.
Es claramente un hermoso homenaje que destaca la labor femenina dentro de la sociedad, con un costo de 6 millones de dólares que fueron donados por el empresario Alberto González.

This bridge is very similar to the Samuel Beckett Bridge in Dublin (Ireland) and the Alamillo Bridge in Seville (Spain), both designed by Calatrava.
Este puente es muy similar al Puente Samuel Beckett de Dublín (Irlanda) y al Puente del Alamillo en Sevilla (España), ambos diseñados por Calatrava.

The opening date of the bridge was at a difficult time for Argentina, as it occurred in the midst of the December 2001 crisis. It is said that for this reason its inauguration went unnoticed by many Argentines.
La fecha de apertura del puente fué en una época difícil para la Argentina, ya que ocurrió en medio de la crisis de diciembre de 2001. Se dice que por este motivo su inauguración pasó desapercibida para muchos argentinos.

The Women's Bridge, like other urban icons, is artistically and luminously intervened to represent causes and days of commemoration.
El puente de la mujer como otros íconos urbanos, es intervenido de forma artística y lumínica para representar causas y días de conmemoraciones.
