A refreshing Belgium beer in the Netherlands for two German biker - EUROPE

Hoegarden Citrus

Today we had a bike ride through the "Euregio forrest" means that area where the borders of Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands meet.

The area is full of nice trails and easy rideable gravel roads, means perfect for a mountain bike.

Hey Hive Family
let us travel the world again
the highest point of the Netherlands

The Wilhelmina tower

The "Wilhelminatoren observation tower", with a restaurant and forest trails. The present tower officially opened on 7 October 2011 and features a lift and a glass floor. The first tower at the site was built in 1905 during the reign of its namesake, Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands, and was demolished in 1945. The second 20 metres (66 ft) tower opened on 11 August 1951 and was demolished over the winter of 2010–2011 because of its poor condition and high maintenance requirements.

The highest point of the Netherlands

The Vaalserberg is a mountain with a height of 322.4 metres (1,058 ft) above NAP and is the highest point in the European part of the Netherlands. The Vaalserberg is located in the province of Limburg, at the south-easternmost edge of the country, near the town of Vaals (after which it is named).

A nice climb

Whenever you are here, you should invest the time and some little entrance fee to climb the tower. For the lazy ones, there is a lift.

At the top you might overcome your fear of high and step over the glass bottom to enjoy the great view.

Back to the beer

We made this point the half way of our tour and used the delicious food and the fresh beer as an additional engine to reach that goal.

The Hoegaarden Citrus is
really refreshing and not to sweet
a good choice for bikers

The taste

It smell as a mixture of lemons, sugar & wheat

Taste & Mouth - There is an average amount of carbonation and the beer has a very sugary sweet and slightly bitter lemon taste. I'm not really sure that this qualifies as a beer - seems more like a lemon soda. There is a hint of wheat but the flavour is basically all lemons and sugar.

Overall - It's not horrible.. I've had some other fruit beers that were just way too sweet, this one at least has a little bit of balance.

My CONCLUSION

I would drink this again

The bikes

sure, we took our engine with us as this area is really hilly and has some cool single trails.

How to find the place

Search for the City of Aachen in Germany and drive to the border to the Netherland and you will find the small village of Vaals. As usual, I add this point of interest to my Pinmapple and #HaveYouBeenHere to help you to find the place
